Safety Officer
Safety Officer
A safety officer monitors workplace activities to ensure that workers comply with company policies and
government safety regulations. Responsible pertaining to policy development, safety inspections, safety
training and compliance with the Department of Labor and Employment Occupational Safety and Health
Standards, commonly known as OSH.

DETAILED FUNCTION
Safety Policies/Programs
Develop, implement, and promote Safety and Loss Prevention Policies/Programs including
Safe Work Practices/Safe Job Procedures and the Site Emergency Response Plan to help
reduce accident-related costs and prevent losses due to a decline in productivity. Determines
policies that are needed and solicits input from managers and workers. Once a policy has been
finalized, the safety officer alerts workers about the change and monitors compliance. He may
also ask each employee to sign a statement acknowledging receipt of the information
Workplace Inspections
Inspect interior and exterior work areas to determine if there are any safety hazards. Check or
inspect damaged equipment, slip-and-fall hazards and other potential hazards (Unsafe acts
and conditions). Conduct regular field visit and audit to workers to ensure that they are
wearing proper and required personal protective equipment (PPEs) and following company
safety policies.
Accident Investigation
Conducts an investigation to determine the root cause of the accident and immediately
implement the corrective action to prevent recurrence. Investigation includes interview of
witnesses, inspection of the accident scene and take pictures of any asset or property
damage. Once the root cause of the accident has been determined, report detailing the latter
will be prepared and provides recommendations for corrective action and control plan.
1. Assists and advises Department Heads in the attainment of safety objectives, compliance to
statutory and regulatory requirements, and resolution of problems through corrective and
preventive action;
2. Plans, audits, and facilitates all occupational safety and health improvement programs;
3. Facilitate and oversees Committee meetings;
4. Conducts regular audits of procedures and policies on occupational safety and health as
implemented and evaluates results and recommends corrective and preventive action
whenever necessary;
5. Monitors and reports all incidents relative to occupational safety and health of all employees
6. Regularly conducts Safety orientation and Tool box meeting to all site personnel;
7. Strictly implement Safety Measures and Good Housekeeping in all working areas;
8. Provide administrative support to ensure that operations are maintained in an effective, up to
date, and accurate ,manner;
9. Take and distribute site minutes of the meetings;
10. Coordinate repairs of office and field facilities and equipment;
11. Monitor renewal and expiration CHASE training validity of field workers assigned at chemical
handling and First aiders training validity;
12. Coordinate with the preparation of Department of Labor and Employment requirements such
as the Annual Safety and Health Standard Report, Annual Medical Report, and etc.;
13. Update and display safety policies and pertinent information on the company or site bulletin
board;
14. Advise on appropriate PPEs( personal protective equipment)
1. Assist in the attainment of Quality and Occupational Health and Safety key performance measures.
2. Comply with the Cooperatives policies, safety and security rules and Code of Conduct.
3. Assist in the implementation of quality and productivity initiatives.
