Evidence: describing cities and places / Evidencia: Describiendo


ciudades y lugares

You are going to see images of five cities and their landmarks. Write a
paragraph describing each city and country it belongs and the landmark shown.
Use the vocabulary from the box for the descriptions. The first one is done for
you as an example. / A continuación verá imágenes de cinco ciudades y sus
lugares representativos. Escriba un párrafo describiendo cada ciudad, el país al
que pertenece y el lugar mostrado. Use el vocabulario dentro del recuadro para
las descripciones. La primera ha sido hecha como ejemplo.

New York is a big city in the


United States (North
America). It takes thousand
of visitors every year. The city
has a population of around 8
million people. There is a lot
to see and do in New York.
You can visit the Central
Park, the Metropolian
museum and Time’s Square.
In the picture you can see the
Statue of Liberty, a monumet
built between 1875 and 1986.
It is 93 meters tall. The statue

is located on Liberty Island in
the Hudson River.
Roma is the Eternal City (Italy).
It is the most populated city in
Italy. This presents many
activities to be done. It is
possible to visit the Colosseum,
the catacombs, the Pantheon,
etc. The image that we can see
is the square of San Pedro built
in the years of 1656 and 1667,
this is a size 320 meters long
and 240 meters wide arriving to
house 300,000 people.

Rome (Italy) – Saint Peter’s Square


Sydney (Australia). It's the
biggest city in Australia. This
has all kinds of activities in
places like, Bondi Beach,
Taronga Zoo, Darling Harbour,
aquarium, etc. The image is the
house of Opera was designed in
1957 and inaugurated in 1973,
has a height of 67 meters, this
arrives to perform more than
2,400 annual events, and was
declared patrimony in the year
2007.
Sydney (Australia) – The Sydney Opera
House
Edinburgh World Heritage Site
(Scotland). It's the capital of
Scotland. This presents an
average of 450,000 inhabitants
and you have very
representative places like:
Water of Leith, Calton Hill, the
Meadows, Royal Mile, etc. The
image that can be seen is the
castle of Edinburgh which was
built in the Middle Ages, this
was used for military purposes,
is located in the middle of
Edinburgh and is the most
Edinburgh (Scotland) – Edinburgh Castle important patrimony of
Edinburgh.
Dubai the City of Gold (United
Arab Emirates). It is the largest
city in the middle of the desert
housing on average 2.5 million
inhabitants. This city is one of
the most luxurious in the world
contains buildings such as: Burj
al Arab, Dubai Mall, Palm
Jumeirah, etc. In the image you
can see the BURJ Khalifa the
largest building in the world with
a height of 828 meters, was built
in the year 2004 and
Dubai (United Arab Emirates) – The Burj inaugurated in 2010 getting the
Khalifa record of the largest building in
the world.
