Introduction
Forced vibrations are those that occur when a body is continually
subjected to a periodic external force. The driving force is the
force that is applied from outside. Depending on a number of
variables, including the difference between the driving force and
resistive force, the driving force and actual vibration frequency,
and the driving force and actual vibration phase, the amplitude of
a body oscillating under forced oscillations may be decreasing,
constant, or increasing. An outside force works on the system to
cause forced vibration. The system's vibration is caused by the
external force acting on it. A harmonic and periodic, non-
harmonic and periodic, or non-periodic external force is possible.
An extension of the analysis of harmonic forcing functions is
analysis of non-harmonic forcing functions. Air compressors, IC
engines, turbines, machine tools, etc. are examples of objects that
experience forced vibrations.

Intelligent Data Acquisition (IDA)
The process of digitizing data from the environment so that it may
be presented, examined, and stored in a computer is known as
data acquisition. All data collection systems include the three
fundamental components of a sensor, signal conditioning, and an
analog-to-digital converter to assist you in selecting the best
instrument for your application (ADC)
Accelerometer
Accelerometers are electronic devices that measure acceleration,
which is the rate of change of an object's velocity. Accelerometers
are useful for detecting vibrations in systems or for orienting
devices.

Hand-held exciter(5961)
The portable Exciter Type 5961 combines the adaptability of a
shaker test to optimize the excitation signal for the current test
with the mobility of an impact hammer test to quickly move about
the test structure. Although an impact hammer test is quick and
simple to conduct, the high crest factor* has the potential to
cause the structure to behave non-linearly. A linear
approximation of mildly non-linear structures cannot be achieved
when performing averaging due to the impact signal's extremely
predictable nature. To greatly reduce the crest factor and provide
a good linear fit of slightly non-linear structures in a shaker test,
different types of random excitation signals can be utilized,
including continuous, burst, and periodic signals. In addition, using
burst or periodic random excitation you can avoid leakage in the
analysis. With shaker testing, you also have full control of
excitation bandwidth and can limit it to the frequency range of
interest including zoom measurements.
