Jimmy Fallon and the Roots video, show example video,create groups, pick song, plan

Younger students:
Show Jimmy Fallon and the Roots video, then show the original
song. Talk about the differences and what was used in the video. Show example video so they
see a different version of “found instruments” and what that can look like.

Older students:
Show both videos and discuss with them different options. After that, show more videos if
needed.
Have students decide on what song they want to do and approve it
Help them find music, chords, etc. to start what they want to do.
Start the planning process

Objectives

Students will demonstrate their ability to: Assess music through listening by defining what the
different layers in a song are and determine if they can create a cover of the song by discerning
the difficulty of the piece. Students will demonstrate their ability to create by beginning to
arrange a cover and assign certain instruments to each layer of the song.
