Arranging and Creating

Lesson #2- Arranging and creating

Have students arrange and create their covers with classroom instruments, their own
instruments, or things they brought from home. Help them decide what parts they should cover
and give suggestions on how to cover them. Once students have the parts sorted and have
decided who is to play what, have them put it all together. Have them write down what they are
doing/playing or record it.

Objectives

Students will demonstrate their ability to:

Create through the arranging process. Students will arrange their cover of the chosen song and
practice it together. They will continue to assess the music in their practicing and decide if things
need to change or be added to create a comprehensive cover.

Assessments:
Observation of group work

Materials:
Instruments, staff paper, and any other materials the students need to succeed in the creation
process.
