Sunday School Teacher’s Covenant

Having received Jesus Christ as personal Savior, and now living in fellowship
with Him I am convinced that ministering Christ and His word to others is a high
calling. In view of commission as a Sunday School teacher, and relying on the
grace and guidance of the Holy Spirit, I promise to fulfill my responsibilities and
agree to the following covenant:

1. I will daily set aside time for conversation with my Lord in prayer and Bible
study.
2. I will teach from God's Word, will promote the study of the Bible in my pupils,
and will encourage their active participation in class.
3. I subscribe to the doctrinal statement of my church, as documented in the
liturgy for worship and sacraments, and will teach nothing in conflict with its
position.
4. I will earnestly pray for leading my students to a personal commitment to follow
Jesus and their spiritual growth.
5. I will faithfully spend time preparing each lesson, and will prepare myself
spiritually by living the Bible truths I teach.
6. I will earnestly seek out the spiritual needs of my students and will attend to it
as necessary.
7. I will work to improve the attendance in the class by trying to solve reasons for
absence.
8. I will faithfully participate in worship & Holy Communion at my church and will
support the activities of church with my prayers and resources.
9. I will attend teachers’ conferences and other Sunday School sponsored
activities unless hindered by some reason I can conscientiously give to God.
10. If for some reason I cannot fulfill my responsibilities, I will consult with my
superintendent and withdraw from my teaching duties when advisable.
