Course Syllabus
Course Information:
• Course Title: Data Mining
• Course Code: ITCS4346
• Semester I, 2022/2023
• Class Location (Campus): A1-301; A1-305

Course Description:
Introduction to Data Mining presents fundamental concepts and algorithms for those learning data mining
for the first time. Each concept is explored thoroughly and supported with numerous examples. The text
requires only a modest background in mathematics. Each major topic is organized into two chapters
beginning with basic concepts that provide necessary background for understanding each data mining
technique, followed by more advanced concepts and algorithms. Practically, Weka is a data mining tool to
solve problems such as classification, clustering, etc.

Course Objectives:
On completion of this course students will be able to:
 Understand algorithms and methods of data mining,
 Develop data mining programs and applications,
 Program using available data mining tools and general-purpose languages. and
 Understand analysis, metrics, visualization, and navigation of data mining results.
