The base salary is Step 1, Column A. Other salary amounts are obtained by multiplying the given
factors by the same salary.

COLUMN A An appropriate credential and a Bachelor’s degree.

COLUMN B An appropriate credential and a Bachelor’s degree plus 20 upper division or


graduate semester units OR 30 quarter units, completed subsequent to the
degree and applicable or pertinent to the position or a course plan.

COLUMN C An appropriate credential and a Master’s degree OR 40 semester upper division


or graduate units, OR the equivalent 60 quarter units, completed subsequent to
the Bachelor’s degree and applicable or pertinent to the position or a course
plan.

COLUMN D An appropriate credential and a Master’s degree plus 20 subsequent upper


division or graduate semester units OR a Bachelor’s degree and 60 subsequent
semester units or 90 quarter units, including a Master’s degree, applicable or
pertinent to the position or a course plan.

COLUMN E An appropriate credential and a Master’s degree plus 40 subsequent upper

“Appendix B-3”

TEACHER PLACEMENT ON THE SCHEDULE

I. A maximum of nine year’s experience will be granted for previous full-time teaching experience outside the
Charter Oak Unified School District.

II. One increment credit shall be granted for each year of service in the Charter Oak Unified School District, as
specified in the section below entitled Progression on the Salary Schedule.

III. Personnel placed on this schedule shall be compensated one additional 2% of their base salary per year if they
hold an earned doctorate, National Board Certification, or Certificate of Clinical Competency for Speech
Language Pathologists.

SALARY POLICY FOR SPECIAL SERVICES STAFF

The following special services personnel shall receive a salary based upon the indicated ratios of their appropriate
placement on the Teachers’ Salary Schedule.

A. Normal Progression

Once a bargaining unit member has been placed on the salary schedule, the member shall advance one-step a
year within the salary column placement. Column moves will be made within 90 days of providing university
verification. For unit members who provide the Human Resources Department with the number of units they
anticipate to complete during the next year prior to May 1 of the previous school year, column placement shall be
retroactive to the first of the month following submittal of verification, provided it is submitted by June 1 of that
school year.

Unit members who do NOT provide the Human Resources Department with the number of units they anticipate to
complete during the next year prior to May 1 of the previous school year, the column move will be made effective
September 1 of the following school year.

For implementation during the 2002-2003 school year, and for salary adjustment during the 2003-2004 school year,
the unit member must provide the anticipated number of units to the Human Resources Department by June 12,
2003.

It is permissible for a bargaining unit member to reach the end of a salary column and choose not to accrue the
units to move to the next column.

B. Placement in Step 16, Column C or Step 17, Column D

A bargaining unit member shall be eligible for placement in Step 16, Column C, or Step 17, Column D, only after
the member has completed Step 12 in Column C and Step 13 in Column D in the Charter Oak Unified School
District and subsequently completed the designated years of satisfactory service to reach Steps 16 and 20 on
Column C and Steps 17 and 23 on Column D. Following the completion of Step 12 on Column C and after
accruing the required units to advance to Column D, the member would be placed, at the beginning of the next
year, on the next step from the one previously occupied in Column C. The total number of years of experience
following the completion of Step 12 in Column C shall apply to the placement on both Columns C and D.

into these positions who are not members of the bargaining unit. If the site’s adjunct committee decides to have one of
the listed paid stipend positions from Appendix C-1 or Appendix C-2 as an adjunct duty assignment, no stipend shall be
paid for the service. No provisions of this agreement shall apply to the performance of duties of extra pay positions,
