A Lesson Plan in Teaching Beginning Reading Using PVOSBM Approach

I. Objective:
Give the sound of letter Dd.

II. Subject Matter:


Topic : Giving the Sound of Letter Dd
Materials : pictures, story
Reference : google site for pictures, PVOSBM Guide (powerpoint
from Teacher Elma Refugio)

Be thankful to your parents

III. Learning Activities


A. Drill
Show pictures of elephant, ant, octopus ant, igloo and bag. Let the pupils
identify the pictures and give their initial sound.

B. Game: Call a Friend.


Pupil will pick a picture from the basket, identify the picture and calls his/her
classmates to identify the initial sound.

C. Presentation
Today, we are going study the sound of Letter Dd.

D. Developmental Activities
Before we go with our new lesson, I will read to you a story, “Daddy’s
Gifts” (Set standards when listening to a story)

Unlocking of difficulties
gifts, daughter, dog, doll,dress, duck, dice

Daddy’s Gifts
Dad loves Dina so much. After work, he always has gifts for Dina, her
daughter. Among those gifts her favorites are; her dog, doll, dress, duck and
dice.
Ask the following questions:
1. Who is the girl in the story?
2. Who gives the gifts to Dina?
3. What are her favorite gifts from her dad?
4. Why did dad give Dina those gifts?

Let us go back to the things which dad give to Dina.

(Show proper strokes in writing the letter through counting.)

palm of your hand, and at the back of your classmates.
