Introduction
Site clearing prepares the site for the construction activities which follow and
makes the work easier and safer.
Clearing consists of the removal of:
Bush and shrub.
Trees and tree stumps
Boulders.
Gradient Smoothening
Existing Structures
If any of the above land features are not present at the construction site, the
operating procedure for clearing the same shall not be applicable.
Bush and shrub clearing
Bush clearing consists of the cutting and removal along with the roots of all bushes
and shrubs for plant boundary. The complete land area which is to be used for the
construction of the solar plant including the Module Mounting Structures (MMS),
Inverter Control Room (ICR), Main Control Room (MCR), roads, drains, and
fence etc. shall be cleared of bushes and shrubs. It is important that the bushes are
removed from the array area as they will hinder the subsequent activities.
For Nallas and any water pathways, the scope includes cleaning / clearing, disposal
of bushes and desilting inside the nallas to allow for free flow of water within the
plant boundary.
If any machinery such as JCBs or others is used for bush cleaning, then the
relevant method/method statement shall be followed as per the Quality/Safety
manuals.
Method
Set out the area to be cleared.
Place the workers in such a way that they know which area to clear and that
they have sufficient working space.
Issue the necessary tools and start the work.
All the removed bushes and shrubs shall be stacked in areas as per Owner's
instructions or shall be disposed as per Engineer In charge's instructions.
No burning of any clearing is allowed.
Filling in nallah areas shall be avoided. Natural water flow shall not be
disturbed.
Existing Structures
All existing structures are to be razed without any human loss. Masonry or RCC
structures are to be demolished with a JCB or other earth moving equipment and
all the rubble from demolished shall be moved to the low-lying area in the plant as
agreed by the owner or the engineer-in-charge.
