SCOPE OF WORK FOR SITE CLEANING AND TREE CUTTING

Introduction
Site clearing prepares the site for the construction activities which follow and
makes the work easier and safer.
Clearing consists of the removal of:
 Bush and shrub.
 Trees and tree stumps
 Boulders.
 Gradient Smoothening
 Existing Structures
If any of the above land features are not present at the construction site, the
operating procedure for clearing the same shall not be applicable.
Bush and shrub clearing
Bush clearing consists of the cutting and removal along with the roots of all bushes
and shrubs for plant boundary. The complete land area which is to be used for the
construction of the solar plant including the Module Mounting Structures (MMS),
Inverter Control Room (ICR), Main Control Room (MCR), roads, drains, and
fence etc. shall be cleared of bushes and shrubs. It is important that the bushes are
removed from the array area as they will hinder the subsequent activities.
For Nallas and any water pathways, the scope includes cleaning / clearing, disposal
of bushes and desilting inside the nallas to allow for free flow of water within the
plant boundary.
If any machinery such as JCBs or others is used for bush cleaning, then the
relevant method/method statement shall be followed as per the Quality/Safety
manuals.
Method
 Set out the area to be cleared.
 Place the workers in such a way that they know which area to clear and that
they have sufficient working space.
 Issue the necessary tools and start the work.
 All the removed bushes and shrubs shall be stacked in areas as per Owner's
instructions or shall be disposed as per Engineer In charge's instructions.
 No burning of any clearing is allowed.

SCOPE OF WORK FOR SITE CLEANING AND TREE CUTTING

Tree and tree stump removal

Trees shall be cut using chain saw or axe in such a way that there is no portion of
the tree left both above and below ground. Any pending debris below ground shall
be excavated and cleared of roots and vegetation to allow for piling at those
locations. The branches of the trees which have been cut shall be made into smaller
pieces and stacked at the location mentioned by the owner or the engineer-in-
charge.

No portion of the tree or its branches or other members are to be burned.

Boulder removal
Boulders of small size shall be removed only in array area and shifted to nearby
low-lying area / valley area within the plant boundary.
Large boulders shall be left as it is and the same shall be marked on the land
boundary drawing as the MMS tables installations in such areas shall be avoided.
Gradient Smoothening
Existing dunes or sand hills will be grounded with a tractor mounted spade so that
the maximum ground slope is limited to 3 degrees in the E-W direction. The sand
heaps will be cut in layers and spread evenly in the low lying and surrounding
areas. The spread area is required to be compacted with a 3T roller by making 6
passes on the soil filled area.
Dunes will be spread by reducing the disturbance to the existing soil as far as
possible. Vibrator shall not be used for compaction of sandy soil.
General notes
 Clearing is carried out so that the following activities can be executed safely
and easily.
 Slope of 0 to maximum 3° shall be maintained in E-W direction within the
table.
 MMS shall follow the ground profile along the N-S directions.
 Any local grading required to maintain the MMS Table slope of max 3 deg
shall be carried out.
 Low lying areas shall be used for dumping earth material. At no point
natural water flow shall be disturbed.

SCOPE OF WORK FOR SITE CLEANING AND TREE CUTTING

 Filling in nallah areas shall be avoided. Natural water flow shall not be
disturbed.

Existing Structures
All existing structures are to be razed without any human loss. Masonry or RCC
structures are to be demolished with a JCB or other earth moving equipment and
all the rubble from demolished shall be moved to the low-lying area in the plant as
agreed by the owner or the engineer-in-charge.
