United Electrical Industries Ltd., a Kerala Government company, located at the
vicinity of Kollam city, 70 km north of Trivandrum, the capital of Kerala State
in South India. The company was incorporated in the year 1950. It is one of
the first factories in India to manufacture Electricity House Service Energy
Meters. The company had started its manufacturing activity in technical
collaboration with the world-renowned meter manufacturer M/s. Aron Meters,
England. The major shareholder of the company is the Government of Kerala.

From 1998 onwards the company started manufacturing Static Meters. So far
the company has manufactured over 45 Lakhs Static Meters and supplied all
over India. The complete requirement of house service meters for the
Government owned Kerala State Electricity Board which is the major power
utility service in Kerala is catered by us against an MOU (Memorandum of
Understanding) signed with the KSEB.

We also supply Multifunction Static Meters with additional features like

display of Maximum Demand of energy consumption, instantaneous voltage
and current etc. to another state utility service in Andhra Pradesh in India

The company's quality system is ISO 9001:2015 and 14001:2015 certified and
its products are ISI marked equivalent to specification of IEC.61036 (1996).
The products identified for the expansion are production of Smart Meters
integrated with Advanced Metering Infrastructure, Solar Systems and LED
Street Lights. As per the GO No: 2330 / 2018 / LSGD  Dated: 31.08.2018  of
LSGD ( DA ), the Grama Panchayat, Municipalities and Corporations could
implement their street light projects through United Electrical Industries Ltd.,
Kollam without following Tender process. (Copy of the GO attached). We
have also supplied LED streetlights, LED tube sets , LED bulbs and all
accessories for maintenance to different LSGDs across Kerala.

PROJECT REPORT
 As per the study conducted by our person at your Municipality, we found
that, the following street lights are currently installed in the Municipality.

1. 2x11 watts CFL street light lights

Manual / Automatic) = 5000 no’s x 22 W = 1, 10,000 w/hr

2. 2x36 watts CFL street lights = 850 no’s x 72 W = 61200 w/hr

3. 1x85 watts CFL street lights = 60 no’s x 85 W = 5100 w/hr

4. 150 watts Sodium vapour lamps = 145 no’s x 150 W = 21750 w/hr

5. 2x40 watts Single tube set = 550 no’s x 80 W = 44000 w/hr

The total consumption / hr = 2,42,050 watts / Hr = 242 units / hr

If replacing with suitable LED street lights,

1. 24 watts LED street lights = 5000 no’s x 24 W = 1,20,000 w/hr

2. 45 watts LED street lights = 1460 no’s x 45 W = 65,700 w/hr

3. 75 watts LED street lights = 145 no’s x 75 W = 10,875 w/hr

The total consumption / hr = 1, 96,575 watts / Hr = 196 units / hr

i.e., If we replace the existing street lights with LED, then

The energy can be saved by = 242 – 196 = 46 units/hr

Yearly energy savings = 46 units x 10 hrs x 365 days =1, 67,900 units

A. Yearly savings in KSEB charges = 167900 x 3.90 = Rs. 6,54,810.00

Cost of replacing existing street lights by suitable LED street lights

1. 24 watts LED street lights with all accessories having Manual

Operation with installation and 3 year onsite service.
= 5000nosx 2800.00 = 1, 40, 00,000.00

2. 45 watts LED street lights with all accessories having Manual

Operation with installation and 3 year onsite service
= 1460 no’s 4325.00 = 63, 14,500.00

3. 75 watts LED street lights with all accessories having Manual

Operation with installation and 3 year onsite service
= 145 no’s 7120.00 = 10, 32,400.00

B. Total cost of LED street lights = 2, 13, 46,900.00

The UEIL offered a total discount of Rs. 13, 46,900.00 (6.309 %)

The Net cost of LED street lights =2, 00, 00,000.00

C. Total savings by replacement of LED street lights

1. Maintenance cost of CFL = 30,00,000 x 3 years = 90,00,000

2. Maintenance cost of tube set = 5,00,000 x 3 years = 15,00,000

3. Maintenance cost of SVL set = 2,50,000 x 3 years = 7,50,000

4. Savings in KSEB charges = 6,54,810x 3 years = 19,64,430

5. Provision for New street light = 9,90,000 x 3 years = 29,70,000

Total savings during three years = 1, 61, 84,430.00

= 38, 15,570 / 3 year
= 12,71,856.00

D. Terms of payment

35 % of the total Invoice amount should be paid in the first financial

year. The payment should be made either in advance or Part by part
considering the value of street lights installed as on date.

32.5 % of the total invoice amount should be paid in the second financial
year or within one year of the first payment which one is earlier.

And the last 32.5 % of the total invoice amount should be paid in the
third financial year or within one year of the second payment which one
is earlier.

 All the street lights can be changed to LED, and thereby declare the first
“ LED NAGARAM “ in Kerala state
 Old and aged street lights can be replaced
 Life of street lights can be increased
 Emission of mercury can be avoided
