I) VIETNAM YAKULT COMPANY:


1) INTRODUCTION:
Yakult is the world's first fermented milk
drink, which was successfully isolated in
1930 by Japanese professor Minoru Shirota.
By 1935, it was present and sold on the
Japanese market. In 1955, the first Yakult
Honsha company was officially established
in Tokyo. Not only wishing to bring health to
the people of Japan but also to people all over
the world, so the company has brought it to
many other places. In 1964, the first Yakult

company established overseas was Yakult
Taiwan. After more than 90 years of development, Yakult has been
present in European, Eurasian, and American countries. Talking about
Yakult Vietnam company was established on June 26, 2006, to 2008,
when Yakult factory went into operation
at V-sip 2 industrial park.
Yakult contains a large amount of the
beneficial bacteria Lactobacillus casei
Shirota. Yakult bacteria are unique,
specially selected to maintain and
benefit our health. In Japan, Yakult is
certified by the Ministry of Health as
FOSHU (special health food) and has
been proven to have beneficial effects on
health by scientific research for more
than 70 years. What's more, you'll

contains no preservatives, colorants, stabilizers, or food conditioners. The


bacteria in Yakult are particularly healthy and can survive gastric acid and
biliary juice, reaching the small intestine, where they still exist, to support
health. The bacteria in Yakult have been scientifically proven to have
many beneficial effects on health.
Customers can approach Yakult by directly purchasing goods at
distributors or by ordering on the web application with the criterion "one
batch also delivered".

2) OBSERVATION:

Yakult Manufacturing Process: The high-tech machines are equipped


with more than 90% automation and are made in Japan. Currently in the
factory there are only 90 engineers working. Stipulating those employees

entering the production area will be wearing white protective clothing,


hair cap and boots. Employees are required to wash their hands with
alcohol and go through the disinfecting area

2.4 Fermentation tanks


Inoculate Yakult yeast in a
pasteurized milk bath, ferment it for
a few days. After the fermentation
time, the fermentation tank contains
billions of live bacteria and currently
the milk in the tank is thick. The
mixture is then homogenized. With
the task is to ferment and propagate
Shirota bacteria. This strain is
imported from the parent company
Yakult Honsha every two years.

2.5 Yakult yeast culture tanks


L.casei Shirota bacteria that
have been activated and grown
in the laboratory are inoculated
in a bath, fermented to produce
Yakult yeast. Yakult yeast is
used to inoculate the
fermentation tank. To inoculate
the seed, the engineers lit an
alcohol lamp and opened the lid
of the tank to heat the triangular
container containing the
fermented bacteria and carefully
put the embryo inside.

2.6 Homogenizers
Use high pressure to split the milk
ingredients to create smoothness
for milk. The post-fermented milk
is pumped through the
homogenizer to form homogenized
fermented milk. The product after
homogenization will be transferred
to a large tank containing sterile
sugar solution.

The purpose of this stage is to
neutralize the sour taste of the product
after fermentation, and at the same

2.12 Bottle Making Machine


Polystyrene plastic bottles are made
in the factory using a bottle forming
machine. Polystyrene granules are
heated and molded into Yakult
bottles. After that, it is transferred to
a large sterile tank for the next
stages.

there will be an inverted triangle
containing the bottles. At the beginning,
the triangle will be led in the line by a
bottle stacker. The filling machine has
36 filling heads. On average, one
machine can fill 45000 bottles per hour
on average.

2.19 Cold Storage


The final product will be
transported to a cold storage
<10°C and the product will be
stored in the warehouse for about
1-2 days to check product quality
before distributing to consumers.

Quality control department: considered as the most central department


of Yakult from receiving and managing products in and out

Production line for plastic bottles: The fine polyester resin particles will
run down the shaft with a temperature of 250 degrees Celsius. The high
temperature makes the plastic melt, and a certain amount of plastic will
enter a certain preform of the bottle. The hot and soft bottle billet is put
into the common mould. The finished bottle will be transported to the
bottle storage tank. Each machine will make 11000 bottles in 1 working
hour. Currently, the Yakult factory has 6 machines, an average of 66,000
bottles will be produced. A special thing is that under the bottles there are
numbers and letters. The signature part indicates the machine that
produced it, the mould number. That's the way to detect the machine with
a high frequency of product failure to fix.

3) ANALYSIS:

The production quantity of Yakult will be specified by the planning


department in a time how much will be produced to inform the bottle
production department and then milk production so that there is no surplus
or shortage. To be planned like that, we have gone through many
forecasting tests to come up with a reasonable number for the market.

In the time of covid, Yakult is not affected too much by:


- Most factory operations are equipped with automated production
facilities. Limit labour use and contact between employees at the factory.
- Yakult is an essential item, so it's not constrained during transportation
- Yakult has also used an e-commerce site, so it is very convenient for
people to buy online

At Yakult I learned a lot about a professional closed chain. The


parts are always together to create a complete cycle. Especially
the quality department is very attentive while going through up to
3 steps of checking goods when entering the warehouse. The staff
and engineers did a great job when complying with the
requirements of the specified factory. The working and
production space is very safe and hygienic. It is also a thing that
makes customers feel secure when using the product here. The
supply of goods is very sloppy without being too long or short of
goods because Yakult is active in producing only milk but also
bottles so that the production progress is always continuous.

II) VIETNAM AJINOMOTO COMPANY:


Established in 1991, Ajinomoto Vietnam Company is a 100% foreign-
invested company belonging to Ajinomoto Group, Japan with an initial
investment value of more than 8 million USD. Over 30 years of operation,
the Company has constantly developed, expanded its business network,
and increased its production capacity of products.

Currently, Ajinomoto Vietnam Company has two representative offices


in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, two production factories including
Ajinomoto Bien Hoa Factory operating since 1991 and Ajinomoto Long
Thanh Factory operating since 2008 with the same factory. The third
machine is also in Long Thanh, which has started construction since 2016.
In addition, the company has 3 large distribution centres and branches
spread over 63 provinces. The total number of employees working at
Ajinomoto Vietnam Company is more than 2,300 people.

1) LONG THANH FACTORY:


A) INTRODUCTION:

Long Thanh factory, distribution centre of southern goods is


established 2008
- Number of employees: 500 employees
- Capacity: more than 13000 tons of goods, arranged up to 4
floors, arranged in pallets, first in first out (electronic
management system) with codes and symbols
- Purpose: to help supply goods to consumers nationwide
(standard goods)
- Area Occupied 1.3ha / 9ha

B) OBSERVATION:

- Food technology development building: Department to


strategize and experiment with innovative product lines to make
them more nutritious and suitable for Vietnamese tastes. There is

also a quality control room including control of the output and


input of the product to confirm the safest when reaching the user.
- Broth and meat factory: where Ajinomoto's signature broth is
made. The factory, established in 2013, is the first factory to
extract casserole bones in Vietnam. Here using a one-way
production process with pork and chicken ingredients.
+ Preliminary processing area: provided by reputable
suppliers in the market. The staff here have separate protective
gear. Bone and meat are divided into 2 different parts. With a
large volume, 2 blocks of meat and bones will be craned to the
tunnel area by the machine.
+ Cellar area: normally stewed, but on an industrial scale,
with high pressure after an hour, the bones are finished stewing
with meat, it takes 3 hours. Then the bone broth will be extracted,
removing the bones that have passed the stew. With meat after
stewing will be built out. All will be put into a mixing pot that
will mix meat and bone broth together. After mixing, it will be
cooled and sealed in the meat and bone broth.
+ Ajinomoto seasoning factory: the ingredients will be put
on the 5th floor to be weighed and measured according to the
prescribed amount and put into a pipe to lead down to the 4th
floor, on the 4th floor, the spices and ingredients will be ground.

mixed with the bone broth to become a homogeneous solution. At
the 2nd mezzanine floor, the Ajinomoto factory will produce the
aji-delicious product. And transfer to a hot dryer to prime the

B, C. Area A, this is the packing area for seasoning bags and each
package will be weighed properly. Packed from zone A to zone
B, these seasoning packets will be put into crates for packing.
After packing is finished, it will go to area C, the robot arm will

load the boxes up by each large pallet to move into the warehouse.
QC department will make sure to check the quality of any one
shipment.

+ At the warehouse, the first in first out method is used: the


goods that come in first will be shipped out first, so the pallets are
arranged according to the time of import and export for
convenience.

C) ANALYSIS:

- The use of the factory from top to bottom: enter raw materials
on the 5th floor and then start to descend and pack the goods on
the 1st floor. Apply the law of earth's weight to transport goods
according to the process from above. Low down has helped to
limit the use of human resources and save production costs.
- The use of the first in and first out method of storage helps goods
reach consumers with the longest shelf life.

D) CONCLUSION:
With a large scale of operations and high-quality products,
Ajinomoto has proven its position in the international market.
With extremely professional and flexible production, goods
always reach users with the best quality and time. In addition,
here, the company pays great attention to the activities of
employees when building a lot of utilities to make the working
environment more friendly and comfortable.

2) BIEN HOA FACTORY:


A. INTRODUCTION:
This is the first factory of Ajinomoto Vietnam, put into operation
since 1991 with an area of more than 14 hectares with more than
1000 employees working hard every day to create quality
products to serve millions of meals. delicious Vietnamese.

In addition to the production areas, in the campus of Ajinomoto


Bien Hoa Factory, there are also areas invested by the Company
towards the goal of zero emissions and contributing to
environmental protection such as: Wastewater treatment system
technology. Japan - where modern microbiological treatment
technology is applied to ensure that wastewater from production
is treated up to standards; biological boiler system – helps reduce
more than 50% of CO2 emissions to the environment;
development area of agricultural support products with AMI-
AMI® bio-fertilizer product application garden, etc.
B) OBSERVATION:
- Wastewater treatment system: invested more than 100 billion
VND using bio-nitrogen technology that meets A standard
according to wastewater treatment technology nationwide. In
addition, there is a water tower to reduce water pressure when
treating wastewater.

- Bio-boiler system: with the criterion of minimizing emissions


in 2014, a bio-boiler was launched using gas from agricultural
rice husks to get steam. This is the type of rice husk that the
factory uses, annually using a base of one hundred tons of rice
husk to burn to reduce the amount of CO2 gas, contributing to
environmental protection. Rice husk material is put into the
combustion system to boil water to get steam for production. The
ashes of rice husks are sold to other factories for reuse as fertilizer
- Aji-mayo factory: ingredients include eggs, sesame oil,
vinegar, When the eggs are checked for quality, they will be
shaved by an egg separator and shell, then transferred to a
pasteurizer and mixer. When pasteurizing eggs, the egg solution
is pasteurized at 60 degrees Celsius for 15 minutes and then
allowed to cool. The pasteurized egg solution is added with water,
egg powder and spices for dry mixing. After dry mixing is mixed
with vegetable oil, starch, and vinegar. The next step, the product
after mixing is assimilated into a mixture of Mayonnaise Aji-
Mayo. The final step is packaging.
C) ANALYSIS:
Although not built as big as Long Thanh factory, this is the first
factory and produces Aji-mayo sauce in Vietnam. However, this
plant is equipped with many technological equipment not
available in Long Thanh such as biological boiler or wastewater
treatment machine.
D) CONCLUSION:

With a large scale of operations and high-quality products,


Ajinomoto has proven its position in the international market.
With extremely professional and flexible production, goods
always reach users with the best quality and time. In addition,
here, the company pays great attention to the activities of
employees when building a lot of utilities to make the working
environment more friendly and comfortable.

IV) TBS LOGISTICS:


1) INTRODUCTION:

TBS LOGISTICS:

Established in 2009, As of 2019, TBS Logistics currently owns


more than 220,000m2 of warehouses and 130,000m2 of yards.
Located in an important strategic position, right in the heart of the
southern key economic region of Vietnam (located right in the
centre of the economic quadrangle south of Ho Chi Minh City -
Binh Duong - Dong Nai - Ba Ria Vung Tau). ICD TBS Tan Van
is a centre providing diversified logistics and logistics services,
suitable for each customer's needs. develop and expand logistics
services for domestic and foreign goods.

ICD TBS Tan Van is a reliable choice of large and reputable


domestic and international customers. We are proud to cooperate
with: APL Logistics, YUSEN Logistics, GEODIS WILSON,
EXPEDITORS, DHL Forwarding, DHL Supply Chain, DULOS
International, SCANWELL Logistics.
2) OBSERVATION:
At BTS Tan Van, there are 3 types of warehouses: CFS
warehouse, IDC warehouse, and bonded warehouse. We will
learn about the current IDC warehouse with 23 docks on each side
that do not identify output and input.
The IDC warehouse is built with a 6-storey pallet structure
including a double-deep racking system for slow rotation and
large weight sources to facilitate loading and unloading. Single-
deep racking system for stock with fast turnaround and small
weight.
Warehouse goods 35 degrees, cool storage 10-22 degrees, most
electronic components (no chemicals). Shipping depends on the
customer (but still has shipping service). Goods will be
transported by regular trucks, however, depending on the time
and distance, special goods will be arranged by trucks. For
example, when traveling with a long distance, cold cars will be
arranged.
Maintenance of anti-theft system is maintained for 3 months; fire
protection can be maintained monthly or half a year. The
warehouse is equipped with forklifts with 2 low lift trucks and 2
high lift trucks.

4) CONCLUSION:
TBS LOGISTICS Tan Van is one of the places with an important position
located in the three participations of three key industrial parks of the
South. Located close to Tan Van port and customs is very convenient for
transportation, reducing a lot of costs. In addition, well-equipped with
technology and equipment, the experienced workforce is a reliable place
for all customers and a dream workplace for logistics students.

Province. With a built area of 16,800 SQMs. Storage capacity 12,000.00

Specific areas for different kind of good, floor construction is 100% epoxy
painted floors, not permeable to chemicals when spilled.
There is chemical collection trench inside and drainage Ditch outside
There are 3 block unit, with 3000 m2 per block. Each block has 600m2
room for DG goods category 2,3,4,5 applied foam firefighting system.
Here, the value of goods is high, so the accuracy is high. There are 2 rental
fees: rent by m2, rent by pallet. Usually, chemical goods imported from
abroad with good packing, for sure. Employees must have a chemical
safety certificate. Average temperature 30-31.
Expiry date is saved in the system, if the goods are stored for 2 months,
the expiration date will be reported to the customer to return.
Estimated design of 5-storey shelves, general regulation of a pallet for
customers (import raw materials including pallets). Outstanding
customers logistics Maersk, paint Akzo Nobel, Starbuck, mc Donal. On

average, exports are about a few hundred tons, importing dozens of


containers a day.

3) ANALYSIS:
Because it is one of the first
chemical warehouses in
Vietnam, it is difficult to be
very careful about the quality
of storage including anti-theft
and fire protection systems.

and spread

4) CONCLUSION:
Experiencing a chemical warehouse for the first of five trips was a
completely different experience. In general, the warehouse is designed to
be extremely minimalist, but the equipment available at the warehouse is
extremely special and serious for this type of goods. That distinction is
also reflected in the value of each item worth hundreds of millions of
Vietnamese dongs
