0 RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

In this chapter, the research methodology used in the study is described. The research
locale and design are described.

3.1 RESEARCH DESIGN

A correlational study is a type of research design that looks at the relationships between
two or more variables. Correlational studies are non-experimental, which means that the
experimenter does not manipulate or control any of the variables. A correlation refers to a
relationship between two variables. Correlations can be strong or weak and positive or negative.
Sometimes, there is no correlation. ( Cherry , 2022).

This design helps the researcher to know if sleep deprivation has a relation to the
academic performances of senior high school students enrolled at Our Lady of Fatima
University.

3.2 RESEARCH LOCALE

This study was conducted at Our Lady of Fatima University, Lagro Hilltop, Quezon City,
which offers to STEM strand. The respondents will answer the survey in their respective
classrooms or in the school library. Since the researcher studying on the said campus, it is easier
for them to conduct this study and they can be able to learn more about the conditions of their
fellow students.

3.3 POPULATION AND SAMPLING

The method of simple random sampling was used to develop the sample of the research
under discussion. According to this method, which belongs to the category of probability
sampling techniques, each individual is chosen entirely by chance and each member of the
population has an equal chance of being included in the sample (McCombes’s, 2022).

A number of thirty(30) students from Grade 12 who are currently enrolled at Our Lady of
Fatima University are the chosen respondents of this research. The researchers thought these
students' replies to their study represented the most accurate data because they employed online
learning modalities.
