Objectives:

• Identify the State of Idaho’s expectations of Teachers

• Identify the ten Idaho Core Teaching Standards

• Understand the Framework for Teaching Evaluation Instrument

• Understand the difference between unsatisfactory, basic, pro cient and


distinguished expectations.

Core Teaching Standards

• The Core Teaching Standards apply to all teaching certi cations. They
are the ten basic standards that all teachers must not only know but be
able to do, regardless of their speci c content areas.

• These standards are grouped into four general categories including;


The Learner and Learning, Content, Instructional Practice, and
Professional Responsibility.

Standard One

• The teacher understands how


learners grow and develop,
recognizing that patterns of
learning and development vary
Learner individually within and across
the cognitive, linguistic, social,
Development emotional, and physical areas,
and designs and implements
developmentally appropriate and
challenging learning experiences.
Standard Two

• The teacher uses


understanding of individual
differences and diverse cultures
Learning Differences and communities to ensure
inclusive learning
environments that enable each
learner to meet high standards.
Standard Three

• The teacher works with others


to create environments that
support individual and
Learning collaborative learning, and that

• The teacher understands the


central concepts, tools of
inquiry, and structures of the
discipline(s) he or she teaches

The teacher understands how to


connect concepts and use

The teacher understands and


uses multiple methods of
assessment to engage learners in

• The teacher plans instruction

• The teacher understands and

The teacher engages in ongoing

each learner.
Standard Ten

• The teacher seeks appropriate

The Framework for Teaching Evaluation Method

Besides the Idaho Core Teaching


Standards, many schools nationally as
well as the State of Idaho use the
Danielson Framework for Teaching. It is
an instructional resource that can help
to guide for effective teaching. Within
the framework, there are 22 different
components and 76 elements organized
into four domains.
How Teachers are Evaluated?
Conclusion

• The Idaho Core Teacher Standards are made up of the 10 standards that
the State of Idaho expects from all of their teachers.

• The Danielson Framework for Teaching and Evaluation Method is another


helpful tool to make sure that every educator is the best they can be.

• The four main domains of the framework consist of Planning and


Preparation, Classroom Environment, Instruction, and Professional
Responsibilities.

• The teachers are evaluated and scored based on being ineffective, basic,
pro cient or distinguished.
