1 Introduction

The main usage of your new Atos card is the logon to your Windows System.
To prepare your system for the first smartcard logon it is mandatory needed that you follow
these instructions step by step.

We have two different instructions depending on your location – choose the right one.

1. Atos Office – connected to the Atos LAN

2. Home Office – connected to the Internet
3. Home Office – process after “Card Lost”

1.1 Atos Office - connected to the Atos LAN

1. Logoff or restart your computer
(Your Atos Card is plugged in!)

2. Login again
but not with your password – use the smartcard.
Press the Button “Other Credentials”

3. Select your smartcard

4. Type in your Atos card PIN

(Which you have set during the card activation process before)

If the PIN is correct you will logged in to the Windows system.

The first smartcard login takes some time (few seconds).
Because of your certificates will be checked and prepared to use the smartcard also
for offline login.

Hint! After 5 wrong tries your card will be blocked and you have to call the Helpdesk.

After the first logon your Windows system is well prepared and the Atos card can also be
used for an offline logon to your system
For using the additional Atos card functions, e.g. email encryption or digital signature please
wait 24h. During this time your new Atos card (My digital key) will be introduced to all the
background systems.

1.2 Home Office – connected to the internet (first activation)

1. Start an URA connection. (If you are still not connected)

2. Lock your screen

[Windows]-[L]
or Start – Shutdown – Lock
or [CTRL] [ALT] [DEL] - Lock Computer

3. Login again
but not with your password – use the smartcard.
(Your Atos Card is plugged in!)
Press the Button “Other Credentials”

4. Select your smartcard

5. Type in your Atos card PIN

(Which you have set during the card activation process before)

1.3 Home Office – connected to the internet (after card lost)

1. You are logged in as the local Administrator (Emergency user)
2. Start the URA tooling using
Start>All Programs>Juniper Networks>Network connect 7.1.9>Network connect
3. Select the menu tools

4. Tick the box for secure logon

5. Start an URA connection

When the URA connection is ready, you will be automatically logged off.

6. Login again
but not with your password – use the smartcard.
(Your Atos Card is plugged in!)
Press the Button “Other Credentials”

8. Type in your Atos card PIN

9. Start the URA tooling using

11. Deactivate “Logoff on Connect”

After the first logon your Windows system is well prepared and the Atos card can also be
used for an offline logon to your system
For using the additional Atos card functions, e.g. email encryption or digital signature please
wait 24h. During this time your new Atos card (My digital key) will be introduced to all the
background systems.
