SANGKURIANG
There was a king named Raden Sungging Pabangkara who liked very much. In the forest there lived a
she-pig actually a cursed goddess’. One day she drunk a coconut milk found in the forest tha actually it was
the king’ urine that she found in a coconut shell
The consequence was very strange,she became pregnant and gave birth a pretty girl named Dayang
Sumbi. She liked weaving ,until one morning her spool weaving flew out of the window She mumbled ,”Whoever
is willing to help me pick the spool, I’ll treat as my sister if she is a girl, and he is a man, I’ll treat as my husband.”
Hearing the words a dog called Tumang came to help her Although she was not fond of it she should undergo
the fate. So ,not so long after that she became pregnant and gave birth a strong and handsome son named
Sangkuriang.
One day Sangkuriang and Tumang went hunting to the forest. Because Tumang didn’t obey him to chase a
pig ,Sangkuriang became angry and Sangkuring killed Tumang’ Kowing that Dayang Sumbi was angry and sent
Sangkuriang away..
Many years later Sangkuriang came back to his native place, and found a beautiful women, that actually
she is her mother,Dayang Sumbi. He fell in love and he would like to get married with her. Dayang Sumbi who
knew that he was her own son, who had a scar on his forehead, refused it’
To prevent the marriage,Dayang Sumbi asked him to build a big vessel in only one night. He agreed and
after his work almost finish ,She was afraid it would be successful, so she streatched a red veil which covered
her head over the eastern side of the plain, to give impression that the sun was rising.
Knowing that he would fail he kicked the big vessel, and later it became mountain of Tangkuban Prahu.
