Diagnostics:
Based on the historical accounts of the EDSA Revolution, write an essay on about on how
Corazon Aquino became president.

Maria Corazon Sumulong Cojuangco was born January 25, 1933, in the Tarlac Province to a
wealthy political and banking family. She attended school in Manila until the age of 13, then
finished her education in the United States. Former President Cory Aquino became a President
because of how she fought the country against President Ferdinand Marcos. I n the beginning,
Corazon Aquino did not seem like the ideal person to run against Marcos. Aquino was a big part
of the 1986 EDSA Revolution, a movement where men, women, and children filled the streets of
EDSA to make Marcos resign. She used peace instead of violence to bring down Marcos's
government. Aquino proved bloodshed and slaughter is never the key. Her faith and her religious
belief helped her a lot throughout her whole journey from her candidacy through her presidency.
Catholic church and most of the Filipinos believed that she would win this election. Marcos won
and remained as President, a dictator president. Cory made the People Power Revolution and
gathered mostly all the Filipino Citizens, Marcos lost his position and Cory Aquino became our
first woman President
