Read the passage and answer the questions that follow.

Do you know the meaning of the word ‘obesity’ is ? It means being very fat or
overweight. It can cause health problems such as heart disease, diabetes and even
cancer. It is becoming a big problem in Malaysia. There are 17% of boys and 15% of
girls aged 2 to 15 years old who have this problem here.

People who have obesity are called obese. Obese children sometimes grew up
into adults who have weight problems. These people normally cannot have an active life.
They will not be healthy and will probably die young.

At school, obese children almost always suffer from bullying, discrimination, low
self-esteem and a poor body image. These difficult situations can delay the children’s
development at school, damage their friendships and even cause them to be sad.

Exercising regularly and eating a well-balanced diet is the best way to control
our weight. If children become obese, it would be better if their parents can carefully
plan and control what they eat and also plan special exercise routine.

Unfortunately, it is common for the children to gain back the weight that they
have lost. That is why a long term strategy to be healthy and fit is needed to help
obese children to lose weight.

I am always fascinated by the way animals move. They swim, fly, crawl and do
many other amazing movements.

Animals move to find food and protection. It is the basic instinct in animals’
behaviour response to hunger and danger. Animals move in different ways on land, in
water or in the air.

Most animals that live on land use their legs to move. Kangaroos and frigs leap,
whereas dogs, horses, tortoises and lizards get around on their four legs. Monkeys and
orang utans climb and swing from tress to trees. Squirrels, possums and raccoons cling
to the bark of trees and branches. Snakes slither while snails and slugs use thick
mucus to help them to move around.

Animals that move in water like fish, whales and dolphins swim and dive using
their flippers and tails. Ducks, geese and pelicans are water birds that both fly and
walk on land. Bats are flying mammals that have wings covered with leathery skin. The
way animals move are magical.
