JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL DEPARTMENT

LEARNING PLAN IN SCIENCE 7

S.Y. 2018-2019

Quarter: FIRST Unit Topic: Matter Time Frame: 8 Weeks

Content Standards:
The learners demonstrate an understanding of :
 Scientific ways of acquiring knowledge and solving problems;
 Some important properties of solutions;
 The properties of substances that distinguish them from mixtures;
 Classifying substances as elements or compounds;
 The common properties of acidic and basic mixtures;
 Properties of metals and nonmetals.

Performance Standards:
The learners shall be able to:
 Perform in groups in guided investigations involving community based problems using locally
available materials;
 Prepare different concentrations of mixtures according to uses and availability of materials;
 Investigate the properties of mixtures of varying concentrations using available materials in the
community for specific purposes;
 Make a chart, poster, or multimedia presentation of common elements showing their names,
symbols, and uses;
 Properly interpret product labels of acidic and basic mixture, and practice safe ways of handling
acids and bases using protective clothing and safety gear.

Stage 1: Desired Results

presentation of elements showing their
names, symbols and uses.
 Product labels are determined by the
common properties of acidity and basicity.

mixtures using natural indicators.

Stage 2: Assessment of Evidence

PERFORMANCE TASK: GRASPS
SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT
Goal Conduct in groups a guided investigation involving any community-based problems
using the available data from the barangay or municipality.
Role You are a city mayor.
Audience People
Situation The Health secretary warned that diseases, such as hepatitis B and C, dysentery,
cholera, typhoid fever, and other food waterborne diseases, would spread in
epidemic proportions if nothing is done about the mounting garbage in Metro
Manila. In line with this, the Metro Manila Department Authority chairman appealed
to the city mayor to do something about the worsening garbage in Metro Manila.
The MMDA chairman reiterated that much of the effort lies within the hands of the
leadership of the local government unit heads in assuring a clean and safe
environment.
Performance Solid Waste Management System in your chosen barangay/community.
Standards Your output will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
 Research Question/Hypothesis
 Methods of Data Collection
 Data Analysis: Conclusions, Inferences and Recommendations

RESEARCH PAPER
Goal The students will perform a scientific investigation to solve problems in the
community.
Role You are a barangay official.
Audience City Officials
Situation Your city mayor comes home from a national conference of public servants
overseas. He observed that the host country is very clean and orderly. There
are no litters or even vandalism on walls. This implies that the people there
are well-disciplined and good followers of heir environmental law. All of
these are the result of researches conducted by their Ministry of the
Environment. Before passing the law in their country, a comprehensive
research must be submitted first. This will serve as the basis of approving
such law. With this, your city mayor would like to adopt such practice in
your own barangay.
Product/Performance The research paper is about the current environmental condition of the
community and a proposed comprehensive plan on how to solve the
problems scientifically.
Standards Your output will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
 Content
 Planning and Organization
 Creativity
 Impact
