1. What are the continuing education information campaign of the CHED and other
institutions in solid waste management?
The DENR Administrative Order No. 50 Series of 1998 or Adopting the Landfill
Site Identification and Screening Criteria for Municipal Solid Waste Disposal Facilities.
WHEREAS, the DENR is the government agency responsible for the management and
development of the country's environment and natural resources;
by virtue of a Presidential Memorandum Circular No. 88, series of 1994, the
DENR was made Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on Waste Management
(PTFWM);
under Republic Act 7160, otherwise known as the Local Government Code, local
government units are responsible for the provision of basic services to their
constituents;
the basic services and facilities, include, but are not limited to general hygiene
and sanitation, beautification and solid waste management;
by virtue of Presidential Decree 1152 and Executive Order No, 192, there is a
need to provide technical assistance on municipal solid waste management system in
the country.
2. What support can the youth give on RA 9003?
Initiation in supporting the RA 9003 or the Solid Waste Management Act is an
important step to motivate and engage everyone in the community to speak and act up
in protecting the environment. Waste is a serious dilemma for environment and health,
youth must move as an inspiration to give support in establishing the solid waste
management in a community. Youth can have the initiative to be an ambassador at an
early age to protect and implement a responsibility in their hands to support the RA
9003. Consistently garbage is not collected or disposed properly has been a serious
challenge faced by many communities here in our country. Solid waste is left on the
streets uncollected, randomly dumped, and sometimes burned. All these practices can
severely harm residents inside a community and its environs and health problems in
many ways. With these, youth can take the initiative to control and support the solid
waste management ordinances in their community by taking simple rules and
regulations seriously so that the other elderlies will have the sign to act up accordingly.
3. Are you favor/in-favor of giving a rewards or incentives to an individual or group
who have outstanding innovations/projects/technologies in re – use / re – cycling and
reduction of waste?
Yes, through this, people can be motivated in maintaining the implementation of
the use of 3R’s in their community. Having a good reward system helps keep people get
focused on what really is the main goal in their community, keeping the said ordinance
in solid waste management be constant and continuous. Rewards, like public
recognition and financial, motivate people in the community to work harder in supporting
the solid waste management to keep their community healthy.
