This documentary goes hand in hand with the book we were reading about the new Jim

Crow. It speaks about how when slavery was abolished as a form of punishment for criminals we

could use indentured servitude, which is almost as bad as slavery. The facts they showed on the

screen during this movie were astonishing. The United States holds 5% of the world's population

and 25% of the world's incarcerated population. We have the highest incarceration rate of any

other country. So many of the prisoners are minorities. The blacks and browns that in places

like Arizona are used in the “chain-Gang” which refers to this indentured servitude. The people

doing hard manual labor because they are criminals and they are forced to do it. I don't think this

is fair, I get what they say because they committed a crime they deserve to work, but they

should be working on rehabilitating the convicts instead of forcing them into labor. The conditions

they work under are so harsh and so unfair and honestly completely inhumane. The government

created this law to keep the blacks under their control, they would arrest blacks for any minor

infraction just to get them into the judicial system to use it against them and keep the blacks

oppressed. Right now this is more relevant than ever with all the protests going on over the
killing of George Floyd. The world is in turmoil because of the racism and the horrors being

committed by United states cops. They are hoping that these protests help the situation but sadly

i do not believe it will.
