The High Commission of Canada Sub: Application requesting a study permit Respected Sir/ Madam, I express my heartfelt gratitude to you for allowing me to detail to you my ardent interest in pursuing studies in Canada. I am Kunal Sachdeva, an experienced architect having witnessed great potential in the field of project management to augment my career growth. As a result, I have thoughtfully chosen to pursue a Graduate Certificate in Project Management from Durham College. I have also received a Letter for Admission from the college for <add intake>. Thus, I am keen to present my profile before you to validate my status as a genuine temporary entrant in Canada. I hope by the end of this application, through my sincerest intentions and reasons to return home after studies, I would be able to convince you to consider my profile for a visa grant. Academic and professional background My family background comprises highly literate individuals who have always inspired me to do well in my studies. I have been provided with eminent facilities and an atmosphere to thrive in a competitive environment. As a result, I completed my high school in 2012 with an overall percentage of <add figure>%. Post this, my senior secondary school’s results reflected decent grades with a total aggregate percentage of <add figure>% in 2014. Possessing an innate desire to get hands-on training in design and architecture, I pursued my passion by enrolling myself in a Bachelor of Architecture - Department of Urban Planning & Architecture. During my graduating years, I learned a great deal about designing a building and finishing each corner with elegance. Studying architecture from different countries, classes, and boundaries sat a new path for me to ponder upon. I became really intrigued about going a step further. Thence on, I inculcated a dream to establish my design and build firm. However, as I first needed to explore my potential in the real world, I pursued a six months internship with Origin Designs from July 2018 to December 2018. It broadened my perspective of intricacies in the design industry and how projects are run in an actual scenario, quite more competitive than it seems in books. Later, to polish my skills in Auto CDA, Sketchup, Photoshop, Illustrator, Lumin, etc., I pursued another internship at Design Affairs between January 2019 to June 2019. My hard work, dedication, and passion impressed my mentors at Design Affairs. As a result, I was appointed as an Assistant Architect at Design Affairs where I served between August 2019 to August 2021. While working at Design Affairs, I realized that I have a knack for managing projects but as I envision myself handling one, I couldn’t fit myself well in the actual role due to a lack of knowledge in Project Management. Hence, I have concluded that it is to my career advantage to seek further studies in their domains o that I can fulfill my life-long dream of owning a design firm. Why Canada? Canada’s educational system is far more competitive and at par with other English-speaking countries. By studying here, I will also gain international exposure and a globally accredited qualification that is highly regarded in my country of residence. My study experience in Canada will be instrumental due to its open learning culture and multicultural population. So far, I have known, that there are students from about a hundred countries in Canada pursuing higher studies. As a result, I will have an opportunity to train myself under highly guided supervision amongst a diverse student population. It will allow me to build great connections for a lifetime. Also, Canada ranks seventh on the global peace index which gives me a compelling reason to choose it over and again. This convinces me about having fair rights as an international student immigrant. Why not India: Irrespective of studying in India, I would rather focus my study plans on Canada due to its highly pragmatic approach to delivering teachings. India, on the other hand, has a highly theoretical education delivery system that restricts experiential learning. Also, studying in Canada will allow me to experience various cultures and ethnicities which is not available in my country. This will help me evolve as an individual and a professional. Studying in such an environment will allow me to attend to a global clientele with an open mindset in the future. Thus, I am highly convinced that Canada is the most suitable destination for me to pursue higher studies. Why Project Management at Durham College? After comparing the courses at Durham College with others in the same league, I couldn’t find a single that matched my study expectations as close as Durham College. Durham College offers a robust course in my chosen study area that appears promising for my career progression from a designer to a manager, or an entrepreneur. Looking at the topics in Project Leadership, Project Resource Planning and Scheduling, Agile Project Management Basics, Project Cost Management, and Project Risk Management, I strongly believe that this course is of umpteen value to elevate my profile. It will allow me to meet day-to-day challenges with so much ease and plan ahead for a lot of things that require a strategic approach to implementation. Moreover, the Capstone project will allow me to develop as a well-rounded professional by enhancing my critical thinking, organizational approach, communication skills, and problem-solving approach which are major prerequisites for becoming an efficient project manager. Besides this, concerning Durham College’s infrastructure, it is the most advanced amongst all institutes that I have speculated on so far. Faculty on the other hand is unmatched and from among the industry leaders. Dedicated international student support makes me hooked to this college as it is a promise to make me feel at home away from home. Hence, I am eager to pursue my studies from here and benefit from its awe-inspiring study offering in project management. Reasons to return to India Family Ties I have always lived with my parents who constitute my strongest connection in India. My father is a <add designation> while my mother is a<add title/designation>. Since I have always been very close to my parents and they have always supported my future endeavors. I have likewise, stood by them through all thick and thin of life. So does, I want to pursue it for the rest of my life. As my parents' age further, I wish to become their strongest pillar of support. I want to be by their side when they would need me the most and fulfill all of their physical, social, and financial needs. Also, we have substantial movable and immovable assets that I will need to take care of. Hence, I am more than eager to return to my homeland after the completion of my studies in Canada. Also, not having any family ties in Canada is a valid indicator that I will head back home to be with my family and not exceed my stay period beyond authorization. Future Goals By availing of studying in Canada, my short-term goal is to benefit the most from my study experience in a developed country. I would, therefore, with all my devotion seek to gain decent marks and pass the study program at Durham College with utmost grace and pride. Later, with the inclusion of my foreign qualification, exposure, and past working experience, I want to integrate my professional self into a fully-fledged Design and Build entrepreneur. Through my technical knowledge in Architecture and Project Management, I aspire to create a team of self-motivated professionals who can contribute to the growth of the company. I seek to cater to bigger projects such as group housing, hospitals, business parks, etc. Financial ability I have carefully considered my financial budget before finalizing to study in Canada. My family possesses immovable property worth CAD<add figure> and movables worth CAD <add figure>. Also, they are financially strong enough to support me in case of any additional financial expenses if I might incur any, during my stay in Canada. My parents have willingly offered to support my studies in Canada. As a result, I have already paid a tuition fee of CAD<add figure> and deposited CAD<add figure> into the GIC account. Owing to this, I am convinced about deriving seamless study experiences in Canada. Also, a proof of payment with my family’s financial detail is attached for your kind reference. English Language Proficiency To prove my language proficiency, I have also passed the IELTS examination with an overall score of 7.5 not having any bands less than 6.0 (Listening-8.0, reading-7.0, writing-6.0, speaking-8.0). My IELTS transcript has been enclosed herewith for your reference. Conclusion I thank you for patiently reviewing my application. Also, I am honored to share that I have familiarized myself with Canadian Immigration Laws that I will follow throughout my stay. My visit to Canada will be purely based on pursuing higher studies and I will not distract myself from the motive of educating myself in a developed nation. By no means, I will contradict the country’s law during my stay. After completing my studies, I will make an immediate return to my country without extending my stay beyond the authorized period. I, therefore, request you to consider my application as that of a genuine temporary entrant wishing to visit Canada for study purposes, only. Yours Sincerely, Kunal Sachdeva
