script which makes it easy to learn for people like the English and Germans. The writing system is phonetic. We have a saying in Turkish for this: "Turkish is written as it is spoken." (Türkçe konuşulduğu gibi yazılır.) So it’s not like English where there are many letters in a word and you only pronounce some of them, like in “queue”.
Turkish is an agglutinative language. Which means we make new words by adding
suffixes (and only suffixes) to existing words. This also means that we have famous long words like in German :) For example, "kıyaslayamayabilirsiniz" (you may not be able to compare) There are no grammatical articles in Turkish. For this reason the, der, die, das, etc. is very hard for a Turk to learn. There is also no grammatical gender. For example, in Turkish we use only “o” for he, she, and it.
In Turkish, sentence structure is highly flexible. The emphasis changes depending
on what word you put where in the sentence: Ben elmayı sana verdim (I gave YOU the apple), Elmayı sana ben verdim (I gave you the apple), Ben sana elmayı verdim (I gave you THE APPLE) etc. And lastly a "fun" fact: In Turkish you don't eat soup, you drink it
