Sec. 5. Principles of Shared
Governance.

Shared governance is a principle which


recognizes that every unit in the education bureaucracy
has a particular role, task and responsibility inherent

The school head, who may be assisted by an assistant school head,
shall be both an instructional leader and administrative manager.

The school head shall form a team with the school-teachers/learning


facilitators for delivery of quality educational programs, projects and

Program Implementers

1.School sports club

and Coach, shall be regular
permanent teachers of the
school and designated by the
School Head.

The Assistant Coach may be any
DepEd employee with the requisite
competencies (i.e., completed a
certification course) in the sport and
recommended by the coach for official
designation by the School Head. A
school may outsource an Assistant
Coach upon the approval of the School
Head.

Program Implementers
A teacher will be designated as a program
implementer provided that s/he is not holding
two (2) or more coordinatorships. Designation
as a sports club implementer (i.e., coordinator,
facilitator, coach) will be equivalent to one (1)
teaching load. In the case of a teacher with two
(2) or more coordinatorships, s/he shall be
entitled to service credits for services rendered
in excess of the six (6) hours for teachers and in
excess of eight (8) hours for non-teaching
personnel.

Program implementers shall be


given priority for capacity-
building activities related to
physical education and sports
at the school, division, regional
and national levels.

Schools are highly encouraged
to select from the six (6)
mandatory sports for their
sports club offerings. Choices,
however, must be based on
each school’s readiness and
capacity.

The time allotted for

be at least twice a week
for a total of three (3)
hours a week.

Membership in clubs is
voluntary and open to all
bonafide learners of the

club of their choice but may

clubs for play or recreational

4.1.6 Sports development:
4.1.6.1 Expenses for school sports activities at the national,
regional, division, district, municipal and barangay levels, as
well as for other DepEd related activities, subject to the
prevailing requirements and specifications set by the DepEd.
