1. How important is the Constitution for the Philippines?

- The Philippine Constitution is significant in the first place because it defends the
rights and freedoms of the filipino people. According to the constitution, the people
are in charge of governing the nation. On the other hand, it is meant to establish a
system of checks and balances and to limit the power of the
government.

2. What is your personal feeling and attitude towards the Philippine Constitution? Is it being
helpful or not?

- I feel safe and guided and yes, it is being helpful to me as a citizen of the
Philippines because it provides and establishes a nation's foundation for
governance, which is crucial for ensuring that me and everybody's interests and
needs are met. It outlines the procedure by which the government rules and
establishes how laws are made.

3. What are my basic rights? How important it is for my right to be written in the
Constitution?
Few of my basic rights are the following:
- According to ARTICLE III. Section 1. of the Philippine Constitution. No person
shall be deprived of life, liberty, or property without due process of law, nor shall
any person be denied the equal protection of the laws.
- It is important that my right to be written in the Constitution because it will
protect my citizenship and I, as a citizen myself. It will also ensure to meet my
basic needs in life.
4. Why the government should punish those citizens who violated the RA 8491?

- They are deserving of punishment because it is a crime to, mock, ridicule and show
disrespect towards our Philippine flag. They do not violate only the physical flag
itself but its nature, meaning and symbol, and its representation to our country
together with its people.

5. What is our National Motto? Explain.

- Maka-Diyos, Maka-tao, Makakalikasan at Makabansa (Filipino for "For God,


People, Nature, and Country" or "For the Love of God, People, Nature, and
Country", is the national motto of the Philippines. It is derived from the last four
lines of the Pledge of Allegiance to the Philippine Flag, it was adopted on
February 12, 1998 with the passage of Republic Act No. 8491, the Flag and
Heraldic Code of the Philippines, during the presidency of Fidel V. Ramos.Its
adoption came twelve years after the abolition of the country's previous motto,
"Isang Bansa, Isang Diwa", which was adopted during the presidency of
Ferdinand Marcos in 1979.

the following questions.
a. Did he violate any law?
- Yes
b. Identify the law he violated and explain.
- He violated REPUBLIC ACT 8491 “The Implementation of the Flag Heraldic
Code of the Philippines”, Section 39 a. :“To mutilate, deface, defile, trample on,
cast, contempt, or commit any act or omission, casting dishonor or ridicule upon
the National Flag or over its surface;”

In which he showed disrespect by spitting and tearing off or spliting the drawn
flag. Regardless of the shape, the size and material used to portray the Philippine
flag, as long as a person intentionally disrespect it, is unrightful and must be
punished.
c. What must be his punishment/s?

- He is to be fined P20,000, imprisoned for at most a year, or both fined and


imprisoned depending on the court.

d. What advice can you give to him?

- Respect begets respect. Everyone is worthy of respect. Every race must be free
from any form of prejudice regardless of nationality. Pay respect to each
country’s culture and symbols. Be mindful of our actions. There are
consequences of each violation that we do under the Law or Constitution.

7. Explain the importance of RA 9418

- Through volunteering, we, the youth, are capable of improving ourselves while
also actively helping the community. The opportunity pushes us far beyond our
comfort zones and pushes our limits. It shapes our habits in our hearts and minds
and is crucial for our development as citizens.
