 MINUTES OF THE MEETINGS OF THE BOARD IF STUDEIES IN MATHEMATICS – 2015

The meetings of the BOS in Mathematics was held on 16 th April at 11 am in the

chamber of Dean Academic Affairs – RSVP

Discussed the present syllabus ie., being followed for 1 st year Prak-Sastry course with effect
from 2014-15.
1. Resloved to adopt the new syllabus and Text books of Telugu Akademy for 2 nd year Prak-
Sastry course / Intermediate with effect from 2015-16.
Enriching the Prak-Sastry syllabus:
2. Resolved to introduce Ancient Indian Mathematics component for 2 nd year also in
continuation of the same which was introduced for the 1 st year for the academic year 2014-15.
In the 1st year the following topics were introduced as per the resolution of the BOS in the
meeting held 2014.
 The following chapters from Lilavathi of Bhaskaracharya(Telugu Akademy-Andhra Pradesh)
Progressions: Chapter V
Geometry: Chapter VI
The following chapter from Ganita Sara Sangraham of Mahaviracharya
Chapter 2: Elementary Arithmetic Operations – Telugu Akademy – Andhra Pradesh
Publications
Now we will introduce the following for 2 nd year Prak-sastry course:[ see enclosure 1]
3. Discussed the current Sastry/B.Sc degree syllabus which has been formulated by APSCHE –
Resolved to continue the same syllabus for the academic year 2015-16 onwards
4. Mathematics Practical: Practical component for the B.Sc course with lab work will be
continued during the current year also
5. Resolved to adopt Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) as advised by Vidyapeetha authorities
[see enclosure 2]
6. The detailed syllabus year wise for all the three year B.Sc / Sastry course in the light of CBCS
will be drafted by BOS and the same will be submitted to the Vidyapeeth soon. However the
CBCS syllabus for the I year B.Sc is prepared and enclosed
7. Panel of Examiners: list lf Examiners submitted last year will be continued
8. Scheme of Examination: The scheme was adopted during 2014-15 will be continued
9. In view of the enrichment of the syllabus by introduction of the component of Ancient Indian
Mathematics – Resolved to request the Vidyapeetha Librarian immediately acquire the
recommended available books on Indian mathematics of Indian publications [see enclosure 3]
