1. A circuit is as shown in the figure.

If RB =
270k, RC = 3k,  = 60, UBE = 0.7V, what is
quiescent operating point, IB, IC, UCE?
Solution:
U CC -U BE 12 - 0.7
IB = = A = 42  A
RB 270 10 3

I C =  I B = 60  42 = 2.5 mA

U CE = U CC - I C RC = 12 − 2.5 10  3 10 = 4.5V

2. A circuit is as shown in the figure. If  = 200,
what is quiescent operating point, IB, IC, UCE?
Solution:
U BB -U BE 10 - 0.7
IB = = A = 198 A
RB 47

I C =  I B = 200 198 = 39.6 mA

U CE = U CC - I C RC = 20 − 39.6 10-3  330 = 6.93V

3. For the circuit in the figure. Try to use
Norton’s theorem to calculate UAB.
Solution:
calculate the current ISC without the current source

I SC = I1 + I 2

calculate the current I1 and I2 using ohm’s law

24 3
I1 =  = 1A
6+6 3 6 + 3

24 6
I2 =  = 2A
3+6 6 6 + 6
3. For the circuit in the figure. Try to use
Norton’s theorem to calculate UAB.

Solution:
calculate equivalent resistance

R0 = (6//3 + 6)//(3//6 + 6)= 4

the 3A current source is as shown in the figure

calculate voltage UAB

U AB = (3 + 1)  4 = 16 V
