English 1301

Introductory information are the beginning sentences of each paragraph, serving to give a general idea of

what the paragraph is going to detail. “The image is retro themed, similar to those of the 50’s space race ones,”

is my introductory information for my 3rd paragraph. I could possibly reword it to, “In the 50’s, there was a

competition to see who could achieve better spaceflight capabilities between the United States of America and

the Soviet Union. This battle was referred to as ‘Star Wars’ by President Reagan, but was better known as the

‘Space Race.’ There was plenty of propaganda surrounding the space race, mainly retro posters of man on the

moon being plastered every inch of the United States to urge NASA to bring pride to their nation. SpaceX

delivered the same style to bring back the history of the Space Race and how instead of putting man on the

moon, they will achieve man on the red planet.” A possessive pronoun is used when a noun has ownership.

“When opening the image, one of the first things the viewer sees is a woman holding on a man's shoulders from

behind,” is the topic sentence for my 2nd paragraph. Although the possessive pronoun is fine, I do think it reads

a little weird. I can reword the sentence to, “Upon opening the image, the most noticeable object is the couple

inside the gondola looking up into the horizon. The woman is standing behind the man with her hands holding

onto his shoulders.”
