SCIENCE IV

I. OBJECTIVES

A. Content Standard : The sun as the main source of heat and light on earth.
B. Performance Objective : recalls details, sequences of events, and shares ideas on texts

 Practice safety precautions to avoid the negative effects of too much exposure to sunlight.

II. SUBJECT MATTER


TOPIC: Practice Safety Precautions on the Effects of the Sun
REFERENCE: Teacher’s Guide , Science Book
MATERIALS: manila paper, book , marker , strips
INTEGRATION: Mapeh
THEME: Family must take good care of their eyes and skin.

III. PROCEDURE
A. REVIEW : recall the previous lesson.
Review harmful effects of the sun on living things.
MOTIVATION: To sing a song
What is in the song?
B. ACTIVITIES : Read the situation written on the activity card and write the things on the safety precautions
on the Effects of Sunlight.
Group 1 - You have a family outing to the beach. How can you protect your eyes from the glares of the sun?
Group 2 - You will help your father in harvesting corn. What should you wear to protect you from the intense
sunlight?
Group 3 - You will go swimming with your friends this weekend. What should you do to avoid sunburn?
Group 4 - You walk to and from the school on a sunny day, what should you bring to protect you from the
sun’s heat and light during sunny days?

C. ABSTRACTION:
Discuss the lesson:
Give the background information.
D. APPLICATION
List down the things that should you wear during summer day.

IV. EVALUATION
Put a check mark (/) opposite the statement if it is a GOOD practice and cross mark (x) if it is NOT A GOOD

V. ASSIGNMENT
Write a jingle on the safety measures in protecting yourselves from the sun’s heat and light. This will always
remind you when working or playing under the sun.
