Course Description
Rationale: This course introduces the Literacy Training Program I (LTS1) and Civic
Welfare Training Program I (CWTS1) are two components of the University NSTP
Program that aims to prepare students for NSTP II or application phase by providing
them the basic concepts and theories needed for doing community work as well
knowledge of issues and concerns that may affect the community and in society in
general. This involves introduction on concepts on self in relation to community and
basics of community development theories, practices and processes.
Focus: The course focuses on part of the process; students are introduced to
concepts on basic data gathering as a tool for community diagnosis and project
management in preparation for project implementation.
Learning Outcomes:
 Develop and promote civic consciousness, enhance the physical, intellectual,
moral, spiritual and social well being
 Inculcate the ideals of patriotism and nationalism and advance their
involvement in public and civic affair;
 Instill moral values, respect for the rights of civilians and adherence to the
constitution;
 Develop the ethics of service after undergoing training in any of its three
program components, and
 Enhance the youth’s active contribution to the general welfare.

Part 3 - Course Requirements

1. Attendance – Students are required to attend his/her class to be checked


regularly
2. Major Exam/quizzes – Academic Integrity
3. Sense of responsibility & professionalism – Students are suspected to be
responsible & possess sense of professionalism in the preparation/submission of
the required outputs
Part 4 - Course Policies

1. Report to class on time and stay for the entire session.


2. Accomplish all activities assigned during class hours or within the time
frame recommended by the professor.
3. Computerize all out class activities. Reports or outputs to be submitted are
expected to be comprehensive and in prescribed format/style of
documentation.
4. Strictly submit all class requirements as scheduled.
5. Consult the professor for any problems regarding lessons and course
requirements.
6. Maintain professional decorum at all times.
7. Strictly observe intellectual and academic honesty at all times.
Acknowledge all sources of information used in your papers and in class
discussions.
8. Strict compliance to all policies as stipulated in the GGC student’s
handbook.

40 % - Major Exams (Prelim, Midterm, Semifinal
and Final Exams)
40 % - Course Requirements (Attendance,
