PANDEMIC RESEARCH PAPER:

Mission:
Students are required to write a 8+ page paper comparing and contrasting The Spanish Flu to the COVID-
19 Pandemic. Included in the paper; students are required to interview 3 sources to find out how the COVID-
19 crisis impacted their lives and/or business. Students are also required to show how the Pandemics impacted
the stock market using statistics, graphs, etc….

Topics to discuss and paper structure:

1. Research the Spanish Flu
A. Identify the causes.
B. Discuss the impact the Spanish Flu had on Americans.
-Stock Market
-Unemployment
-Poverty
-Hospitalizations
-Symptoms
-Deaths / Deaths as a % of population
C. Medical Treatments used
D. Discuss the impact the Spanish Flu had on the economy and/or stock market.
-Give example based on some form of mathematical rationale.
-Graph, statistics, charts, etc…
E. Discuss the measures taken by both Federal and Local governments, and the outcomes of their
actions.

2. Research COVID-19

3. MEDICAL WORKER
a. What was their job in 2020?
b. How did the virus impact their job?
c. What safety precautions have they taken?
