worldwide.

o According to the Commission on Population and Development (PopCom), the

Philippines has recorded a 7% increase in births among girls aged 15 and

below in 2019. Filipino minors who gave birth in 2019 increased to 62,510

from 62,341 in 2018. In 2019, 2,411 very young adolescents aged 10 to 14

gave birth, or almost seven every day.

o Early childbearing may result in poor health outcomes and may be a threat to

the country’s economic growth. Pregnant adolescents are less likely to

complete higher education and have lesser ability to earn more income over

the course of a lifetime, causing economic losses to the country. 

o Pregnancy during teenage years is also associated with a higher risk of

health problems.

o Teenage mothers are more likely to experience violence and depression that

can increase the risk of mental disorders.

o 40% of teen mothers are unable to pursue higher education and cannot offer

their child a strong financial ground.

a. The importance of proper education in student to reduce teenage pregnancy.

Teenage Pregnancy

A teenage pregnancy is one that happen in a female between the ages of 13 and 19

this age is too young to know everything. It is a worldwide issue and one of the problems in

our society that we can’t control for the past year. Lack of education is the primary cause of

this phenomenon [1]. The majority of teenage pregnancies happen in poor countries [3].

Section 1

This phenomenon happen wherein 80 percent of this are not planned and

unexpected that’s the reason most of them are not ready. 40% of young mother are unable

to continue their education beyond high school and cannot provide their financial needs.

Most of teen partner are spending their life in poor situation with their baby. Being teen mom

can also affect their health. One of the reasons are lack of accountability and maturity they

are not mind the situation that can affect their entire life [2].

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), about 16 million girls aging

between 15 and 19 years and about one million girls younger than 15 years give birth every

year [1]. The Commission on Population and Development (PopCom) reports that the

Philippines saw a 7% rise in births among females who are 15 years old or younger in 2019.

There were 62,510 Filipino minors who gave birth in 2019, up from 62,341 in 2018. 2,411

extremely young teenagers, or around seven every day, between the ages of 10 and 14,

gave birth in 2019. Early childbirth may have negative health effects and pose a risk to the

nation's ability to grow economically. Teenagers who get pregnant have lower lifetime

earnings potential and a lower likelihood of completing higher education, which loses the

nation money. That’s the reason why it can affect the country’s economy [2].

Having the proper education gives us knowledge so that we can apply it in our daily

lives. It gives the importance of education in our self, our country and other people. Having

worst decision in our life it can affect others so that choose the right path and you will not

regret it. [3].
