METHODOLOGY

To formulate the SWOT Analysis of the given case studies, knowledge of this methodology is needed
and is discussed below:

The acronym SWOT stands for Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats. The basic
goal of the SWOT analysis is to identify and evaluate the strengths and weaknesses in the internal
environment and opportunities and threats in the external environment of the system. The analysis is
based upon the comparison of the internal features of the system (advantages and shortcomings) which
can be controlled within the system with those coming from the external environment, upon which the
system does not have a control (Afuah, 2009).

Internal analysis deals with the objectives, strategies and system structure to identify the skills,
capabilities and competencies of a certain organization or product.

STRENGTHS is an internal analysis to determine the resource or the capacity that a product can
effectively use. It is also considered as the characteristic that gives a relative advantage over its
competition on a specific scale of areas/products.

WEAKNESS is also an internal analysis that shows area things that could be improved relative to the
characteristics of the specific organization or product

The External Analysis examines the possibilities and dangers that exist in your organization/product’s
environment, this includes Opportunities and Threats. It is relatively independent to the specific
organization/product.

In SWOT Analyzation terms, OPPORTUNITIES are an external analysis that the researcher could benefit
on going forward with the project. May it be business related or technology related etc., to help with the
performance evaluation of the specific topic; windows of positive possibilities are to be listed here.

Threats on the other hand, while being an external environment analyses as well, are the opposite of
opportunites. These are externalities that could hinder the growth or result of the chosen project. One
example is not having enough related literature that could have aided the research, or a much external
threat such as having a scarce budget.

SWOT analysis is a qualitative method used in this research for the theoretical performance evaluation
whether WHF and ESP are components that could perform well when added into concrete depending on
the percentage of which they are added
