Rhetorical Knowledge

The purpose of my literacy narrative is to show my audience a piece of my life and how
it has impacted me in the best ways. The genre of this project was an essay, which
honestly at first I didn’t enjoy because it’s just so hard for me to come up with what to
write, but as soon as I know what to write about I can’t stop writing and this was the
case for my narrative.

Critical Thinking
I chose to write about Mexico, because I think it is the one thing that has impacted and
influenced me the most till this day. It is also something I will never get tired of talking
about or even writing about in this case. My culture shows who I am, which is important
to me and this is something I would like for people to step in my shoes and see from my
perspective which is why I chose to write about this.

Processes
The biggest difficulty I had in writing this narrative was how I wasn’t using sensory
details at all. I struggled with this because I just didn’t know how to fit sensory details
into my narrative without making it look like I was going off topic. During the peer
review, and when Professor Scaife reviewed it as well I was told that I needed to add
details and describe what I was seeing, eating, feeling, etc. And it was honestly a
struggle to even try and describe these things in my narrative, but I think I managed it
pretty well and got the hang of it.

Knowledge of Conventions
Each one of my paragraphs was a time I had visited Mexico, which I really think made
my narrative come as a whole. I really think it tied everything together, especially after I
started to describe and fix my peers and professor told me to.
