IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
Caution:
The power source is indicated on the rear of the set and contains high-voltage parts. If
you remove the cover, it may cause fire or electric shock. Do not remove the cover by
yourself. (Control switches are on the front of the monitor).

1. Read Instructions : All the safety and operating instructions should be read
before the appliance is operated.
2. Retain Instructions : The safety and operating instructions should be
retained for future reference.
3. Heed Warnings : All warnings on the monitor and in the operating
instructions should be adhered to.
4. Follow Instructions : All operating and use instructions should be followed.
5. Cleaning : Unplug this monitor from the wall outlet before cleaning. Do not
use liquid cleaners or aerosol cleaners. Use a damp cloth for cleaning.
Exception: A monitor that is meant for uninterrupted service and that for
some specific reason, such as the possibility of the loss of an authorization
code for a CATV converter, is not intended to be unplugged by the user for
cleaning or any other purpose, may exclude the reference to unplugging the
monitor in the cleaning description otherwise required in Item 5.
6. Attachments : Do not use attachments not recommended by SAMSUNG,
may cause hazads and art not covered by SAMSUNG.
7. Water and Moisture : Do not use this monitor near water for example, near
a bathtub, wash bowl, kitchen sink, or laundry tub, in a wet basement, or near
a swimming pool and the like.
8. Accessories : Do not place this monitor on an unstable cart, stand, tripod,
bracket, or table. The monitor may fall causing serious injury to a child or
adult, and serious damage to the appliance. Use only with a cart, stand,
tripod, bracket, or table recommended by SAMSUNG, or sold with the
monitor. Any mounting of the monitor should follow SAMSUNG’s
instructions, and should use a mounting accessory recommended by
SAMSUNG.

9. Ventilation : Slots and openings in the cabinet are provided for ventilation
and to ensure reliable operation of the monitor and to protect it from
overheating: These openings should never be blocked by placing the monitor
on a bed, sofa, rug, or other similar surface. This monitor should never be
placed near or over a radiator or heat register.
This monitor should not be placed in a built-in installation such as a bookcase
or rack unless proper ventilation is provided or SAMSUNG’s instructions
have been adhered to.

10. Power Sources : This monitor should only be operated Only from the type
of power source indicated on the making label. If you are not sure of the type
of power supply for your installation site, consult your SAMSUNG dealer or
local power company.

11. Grounding or Polarization : (For monitors equipped with a 3-wire


grounding-type plug having a third(grounding)pin.) This plug will only fit
into a grounding-type power outlet, this is a safety feature. If you are unable
to insert the plug into the outlet, contact your electrician to replace your
obsolete outlet. Do not defeat the safety purpose of the grounding-type plug.

12. Power : Cord Protection Power supply cords should be routed so that they
are not likely to be walked on or pinched by items placed upon or against
them, please pay particular attention to cords at plugs, convenience
receptacles, and the point where they exit from the monitor.

13. Lightning : An added protection for this monitor during a lightning storm, or
when it is left unattened and unused for long periods of time, unplug it from
the wall outlet and disconnect the cable system. This will prevent damage to
the monitor due to lightning and power-line surges.

14. Overloading : Do not overload wall outlets and extension cords Which as
this can result in a risk of fire of electric shock.

15. Object and Liquid Entry : Never push objects of any kind into this monitor
through openings. These objects may touch dangerous voltage points or
short-out parts that could result in a fire or electric shock.
Never spill liquid of any kind on the monitor.

1-3. Individual Component Installation

1) INSTALLING THE STANDARD CAMERA (SSC-17C)

SSC-17C’s camera can be attached to the wall, ceiling or shelf using the camera mount
bracket (SBR-110).
· Choose an installation site that can sufficiently support the weight of the equipment to be
installed.
· Attach the camera mount bracket to the wall or ceiling using the three screws supplied
(M3 X L16).
· Adjust the camera to target the video location and tighten the bracket handle on the
camera mount bracket.

2) INSTALLING THE DOME CAMERA (SSC-17DC)

· Remove the dome cover from the main body of the camera by turning the cover in a
counter clockwise direction with one hand while holding the body with the other.

· Attach the camera to the wall or ceiling using the supplied tap screws.

· Adjust the video location by swiveling the camera (PCB board) up and down, and
adjust the focus by turning the lens clockwise and counter clockwise.

· Put the dome cover back on the camera by rotating the cover clockwise.

· Connect the camera cable to the camera cable jack on the dome camera, and the other
end of the cable to the monitor' s channel input jack.

✳ Caution: When removing or closing the dome cover, do not get dirt or dust in the cover.

3) CAMERA MOUNT BRACKET(SBR-110) & STANDARD CAMERA(SSC-17C)

Overview
CAMERA MOUNT BRACKET (SBR-110) is used to attach the camera to a wall, ceiling or
shelf.
Installation
Explains the installation of CAMERA MOUNT BRACKET as well as the installation of the
camera onto the CAMERA MOUNT BRACKET.
· Choose an installation site that can sufficiently support the weight of the equipment to be
installed.
· Attach the camera mount bracket to the wall using the supplied screws (M3 XL16).

· Adjust the camera to target the video location and tighten the bracket handle on the
camera mount bracket.
· Install the camera to the male screw of the Camera Mount Bracket by rotating
the camera clockwise.

· Loosen the handle by turning it in a counter-clockwise direction and then adjust the
camera position. Tighten the handle, turning it clockwise, and lock the camera in
position.

· Connect the camera cable to the camera.

4) MOUNTING BRACKET(SBR-120)

Overview
MOUNTING BRACKET (SBR-120) is used to install the camera housing to a wall.
Installation
· Choose an installation site that can sufficiently support the weight of the equipment to be
installed.
· Mark the mounting holes using the house mount bracket as a template, then drill pilot
holes (8 mm diameter, 45 mm depth), and install and secure the plastic anchors.
At this time, cut away all exposed protrusions.

· Align the housing mount bracket over the plastic anchor holes, then firmly fasten the
tapping screws.
· Install the housing according to the following CAMERA HOUSING installation method.

5) CAMERA HOUSING(MHG-110)

Overview
The CAMERA HOUSING (MHG-110) is the equipment that protects the indoor
camera from the operating environment so that the camera may perform safely.

Installation
This section explains how to install the camera within the HOUSING and how to install
the CAMERA HOUSING (MHG-110) onto the MOUNTING BRACKET (SBR-120).
· Loosen the two screws located in the REAR CAP of the CAMERA HOUSING, then
detach the COVER BODY by pushing it in the direction of arrow.

· Loosen the two screws from the CAMERA HOUSING PLATE and detach from the
HOUSING.

· Slide the spring washer and plain washer onto the supplied screw (1/4-20UNF), then
install the camera onto the camera housing plate.

· Insert one end of the cable to CABLE GROUND (PG-13.5), then pull the end of the
cable from the inside of HOUSING.

· Connect the cable to the camera, then set up CAMERA MOUNTING PLATE and the
camera in the appropriate place inside the HOUSING.

· Slide the camera body into the housing body in the direction of arrow, then install the
two supplied screws to the rear cap.

· Use the supplied two screws and L-WRENCH to set up the CAMERA HOUSING onto
WALL MOUNT BRACKET.

· Use the supplied L-WRENCH to slightly loosen the hexagonal groove SCREW located at
the bottom of WALL MOUNT BRACKET by turning it counter clockwise, then position
the CAMERA HOUSING by tilting and swiveling, and tighten the hexagonal groove
SCREW by turning it clockwise.

1-4. Basic System Installation
Perform the following steps to install your system:
・Take the monitor out of the packaging box.
・Place the monitor where you would like to install it. Do not turn on power until
installation is complete.
・Choose the place where you want to install the camera.

・Once the monitor and camera locations have been chosen, install the camera.
・Connect the cable to the jack on the back of the camera.
・Connect the other end to CAM E RA IN on the back of the monitor.
(At this time, select the numbers and sequence of cameras.)
・Connect the camera you wish to install (as shown below).

・Connect the power cord between the monitor and the power outlet.
・When the Power switch on the front panel of the monitor is pressed, the equipment
becomes operational.
(Initially quad screen will be displayed.)

After the power has been turned on, the CR T needs approximately 20 seconds of
stabilization period.

3. System Overview

The purpose of the Samsung Observation System is to provide an meconomical yet


effective surveillance method using more than one video camera.

System features are as follows:


· Real-time Quad system
· Quad mode or four camera locations in full screen display
· Still picture for each channel
· Automatic sequential rotation of channels
· Selectable dwell time
· Alarm output connectivity to alarm system or fire detection system
· Alarm Buzzer On/Off and Sound Select features
· Auto detection of camera connections and video loss detection
· Channel OSD (On Screen Display) title and time B’ d line editing
· Power save feature
(The CRT may be turned off to prolong its life and reduce power consumption.
Nothing will be displayed on the screen, but the recording and alarm features will
operate normally in the background.)

Monitor Controls - Front Panel

AUDIO:
Adjusts the volume of the sound.

H-HOLD:
Adjusts the horizontal stability of the screen. If the screen collapses in the horizontal
direction, adjust this button.

V-HOLD:
Adjusts the vertical stability of the screen. If the screen collapses in the vertical
direction, adjust this button.

BRIGHT:
Adjusts the brightness of the screen.

CONT:
Adjusts the contrast of the screen.

TALK/A.RESET:
Auto mode : Transfers audio to the selected screen
Manual mode : Transfers audio to the selected screen
Quad mode : Transfers audio to the selected screen (to select, press the Camera button
and TALK button simultaneously.)
Alarm initialization in alarmed status (Usable after removing the cause of the alarm).

Screen Power Switch:
This switch may be turned off to save the CRT life and power consumption. Only
the screen becomes blank, all functions remain active.

Indicates the main power status of the equipment.

Microphone:
Transfers the sound to the camera.

5. OSD and SETUP menu
This monitor provides the function of displaying time, date and camera title. The
following instructions are how to use the SETUP menu. Press the SETUP button to
display the screen. If an alarm arises, the screen leaves the Setup Menu and switches to
the alarmed channel. In the alarm status, no key works other than A.Reset Key and
Audio Selection Key. The Setup Menu can be used after removing the cause of the alarm.

With this screen condition, the dwell time of each camera can be set-up. Move between
the items with ▼ and buttons, and modify the selected items with + and - buttons.
The dwell time of the camera and the alarm can be set-up at 0~60 second. Selection of 00
means jumping or function stop. Adjust “S” item to set the duration of the alarm sound.
(00 = alarm sound stop). The maximum duration of the alarm sound is the same as the
Alarm Setting time.

Press the SETUP button one more time with the Dwell Time OSD status to make the title
input menu appear. The title can be up to 8 characters and may be 0~9, A~Z, special
characters, and “ “. The Display item is for the selection of whether to have the display
appear on the screen or not. Even if the Display is set to “Off” position in the camera title
setup, no video/Freeze/SP/A(Alarm) OSD is displayed.

3.Time Setup
Press the Setup button one more time with the Title OSD status to make the Clock menu
appear.

The Display item is for the selection of “On or Off” to have the time and date appear on the
screen or not. The Date and the Time items are for setting the date and the time.
To restore to the original screen, press the Setup button one more time.

4.User Data Storage Function


Title, Clock setup and “SP” channel setup in the Quad screen are not lost even when the
power is turned off.

5.Initialization of OSD and SETUP MENU


To initialize the OSD and the Setup Menu, turn on the main power while pressing down
the Setup Key. All Menu setups are initialized to default values. Use this function only
when necessary to initialize the setups. (It will erase all setup values.)

6. How to Use
1. Quad Screen Mode
Quad Screen Mode is the basic monitor mode. Therefore, when the power is first supplied
to the monitor, it works on Quad Screen Mode automatically. If the monitor displays only
one camera screen, press QUAD/AUTO button to switch to the Quad Screen Mode.
Press the button of the selected camera in the Quad Screen Mode to freeze the screen of
the selected camera. The LED above the camera button blinks when the screen freezes
and the word “Freeze” is displayed on the screen. Press the camera button once more to
stop the freeze function. On the screen in which the camera is not connected, “No Video”
is displayed. Freeze does not work on the screen in which the camera is not connected.

2. Auto Switching Mode


To set to the Auto Switching Mode, press the QUAD/AUTO mode button to make the
QUAD/AUTO LED blink. With this mode on, the embedded automatic switcher displays
the screen of each camera one by one in sequence. The switcher skips any camera that is
not connected. The time interval for switching can be set at seconds the Dwell Time
menu of the Setup Menu. For a detailed method of setup, refer to the Setup Menu part.

3. One Screen Mode


You watch only one camera screen while several cameras are connected to the monitor.
First, press the QUAD/AUTO button to set to the Auto Switching Mode.
Press the button of the desired camera to have the LED lit. Then, the LED of the other
cameras will be off and the monitor displays only one screen.

4. Audio Channel Selection


The monitor allows audio transmission from each camera. If one camera is selected for the
whole screen, the sound from the microphone of the camera comes through the speaker of
the monitor. In Quad Screen Mode, “SP” is displayed on the screen of the camera from
which the sound is coming. To change the audio channel in the Quad Screen Mode, press

alarm, “SP” is switched to the final alarm channel automatically.

5. Alarm
The monitor can be connected to various alarms. It has an output port that sends the
alarm signal to another device on +5V TTL LEVEL for Alarm setting time. When the
alarm goes off in QUAD or AUTO mode, the monitor automatically switches to the screen
of the camera where the alarm is generated and displays a blinking “A”. If the alarm
breaks out at two or more places, the monitor switches to the QUAD screen mode and
displays a blinking “A” on the relevant screens. Once the alarm is released, the monitor
goes back to the previous mode automatically. While the alarm continues, it cannot be
reset. Remove the alarm factors. In VCR or SETUP mode, the monitor switches to the
alarm channel automatically. A.RESET only resets the alarm time after the alarm factor is
removed. To disable the alarm completely (the alarm is not detected), set the alarm time
to “00” in the Setup Menu.

6. Two-Way Voice Communication


The monitor has the function of exchanging the voice with the camera. To send out the
voice in Quad Screen Mode, you can speak with the TALK button pressed, and the voice
will be transmitted to the speaker of the selected camera. Also, voice from the selected
camera through the speaker. To select the camera, press the TALK button and the desired
channel button together.

7. VCR Connection
The monitor has the function of the recording on the VCR. To watch the recorded screen,
press the VCR button to switch to VCR function and press the PLAY button of the VCR. By
using the alarm output function, you can connect the monitor to the surveillance VCR to
have an automatic recording function. If an alarm is activated in the VCR mode, the
monitor switches to the alarm channel automatically and all other functions are disabled. If
the VCR mode is selected, the Quad/Auto mode is activated internally regardless of the
monitor screen.

8. Explanation of Screen Display
(1) Camera Title – Up to 8 characters per camera.
(2) Screen Freeze
– The word “Freeze” is displayed on the screen. (Press the selected channel key in the
Quad mode.)
– If the cable is disconnected, a beep sounds and the screen displays “No video” on gray
background.
(3) Date/Time- “Month/Date/Year: Hour:Minute:Second” is displayed on the screen.
(4) Alarm – If an alarm is activated, “A” appears on the screen.
(5) No Video
– If the monitor is disconnected from the camera, “No Video” is displayed on the
screen.
(6) SP – “SP” is displayed on the screen selected for voice transmission.

9. Others
(1) Condition of the Action when the Alarm is activated:
– The monitor switches to the alarm channel, and “A” blinks.
– Alarm sound is generated, unless the alarm is set to Alarm off (Alarm time 00
second).
– Alarm signal is transmitted to the Alarm output port.
– If the alarm is activated in one place, the monitor switches to the screen of the camera
that detects the alarm, and “A” blinks on the screen.
– If the alarm is activated in two or more places, the monitor switches to the Quad
screen and “A” blinks on the relevant screens.
“SP” is displayed on the screen of the final alarm channel.
(2) Setting condition of the Setup menu:
– Dwell time can be set to “00 -60” for each channel and for Quad mode.
(If it is set to “00”, it is skipped).
– Alarm time can be set to “00-60”.
– If the Alarm time is set to “00”, the Alarm is set to Off.
– Alarm Sound Time can be set-up. (00=Sound Off)
