Intellectual Property
It is a term referring to a number of distinct types
of creations of the mind for which property rights
are recognized.

Intellectual Property

A right that is held by a person or by a company
to have exclusive use its own plans, ideas, or
other intangible assets without the worry of
competition, at least for a specific period of time.
Importance of Intellectual property rights
Your IP rights can:
Set your business apart from competitors.
Be sold or licensed, providing an important revenue
stream.
Offer customers something new and different.
Form an essential part of your marketing or
branding.
Be used as security for loans.
Protect your creation against infringement by others
(ie; to stop others using, making, selling or importing
it without your permission.

Trademark
The term trademark refers to a recognizable insignia,
phrase, word, or symbol that denotes a specific product
and legally differentiates it from all other products of its
kind. A trademark exclusively identifies a product as
belonging to a specific company and recognizes the
company's ownership of the brand. Trademarks are
generally considered a form of intellectual property and
may or may not be registered.
Geographical Indication
A geographical indication (GI) is name or sign used on
certain products which corresponds to a specific
geographical location or origin (ex: a town, region, or
country)
Copyright
A copyright is a type of intellectual property that gives its
owner the exclusive right to copy, distribute, adapt,
display, and perform a creative work, usually for a
limited time.
The creative work may be in a literary, artistic,
educational, or musical form. Copyright is intended to
protect the original expression of an idea in the form of a
creative work, but not the idea itself.
Patent
A patent is an exclusive right granted for an invention,
which is a product or a process that provides, in general,
a new way of doing something, or offers a new technical
solution to a problem. To get a patent, technical
information about the invention must be disclosed to the
public in a patent application.
