During the second semester of the academic year, started in February 2014, José J. Goméz Fuentes has initiated the work for his thesis on the assessment of the influence of operating parameters in the alkaline wash of mono-nitrobenzene. The thesis work, entitled “Lavagem alcalina de mononitrobenzeno ~ avaliagio da influéncia de parfimetros de operacio", is being carried out in the industry, at CUF-Quimicos Industriais, in Estarreja, Portugal. Therefore, José Goméz has two thesis supervisors: Dr. Alejandro Ribeiro at CUF-Quimicos Industriais, and Prof. Cristina Gaudéncio Baptista at the Department of Chemical Engineering of the University of Coimbra. ‘The thesis work will be examined by an examining committee in July 2014. The thesis defense has a duration of 90 minutes, and it includes an oral presentation by the student of 20 minutes followed by questions of the examining committee.
