And I felt…
Failure
Defeat
Shame
Embarrassment
Disappointment
Hopeless
“Will I ever graduate?”

So what happened?

5/11/2022 OVERCOMING “FAILURE” 6

Possible Reasons

- Not studying hard

enough
- Not studying the right
way
- Classes were too hard
- Laziness
- Procrastination (拖延讀書)

So how do we solve
this problem?

5/11/2022 OVERCOMING “FAILURE” 15

Let’s first understand
a few things.

5/11/2022 OVERCOMING “FAILURE” 16

1. Failure creates negative emotions.

5/11/2022 OVERCOMING “FAILURE” 17

Defeat
Shame
Embarrassment

Disappointment

Red Text F for FAILURE Hopelessness

5/11/2022 OVERCOMING “FAILURE” 18

“Failure” is just a signal that you should
do something differently.

No negative emotions necessary.

5/11/2022 OVERCOMING “FAILURE” 19

2. Expectations paralyze you.
(comparisons)

- “If others can procrastinate to study, why can’t I?” - Why do I get a different result with the same
effort as others?
