Module 9: Soul Making in Art

TASK 1: Pre-assessment
Directions: Write TRUE if the statement is correct and FALSE if it is incorrect.

6-10. Based on your own understanding, what is Soul making in art? Explain.

Answer:

Soul Making refers to a person’s individuality that reflects his or her behavior. Because
art is a human expression that is highly valued and symbolic, a person usually uses
various forms of art to fulfill the need to communicate and express oneself. A person’s
desire to fulfill his or her personality is greatly aided by doing soul making. What we do
art gives us a sense of purpose about what we are doing greatly in developing soul
making.

TASK 2:

Directions: Complete the statement below:

I learned that in Soul making is to understand our surroundings better. to feel more
connected to nature and to ourselves. we see things differently in a good way. makes us
feel better, important and loved.
TASK 3: Reflective Essay

Directions: Choose 4 pictures (either of the following: picture of yourself, your family,
and friends. Describe yourself based on the 4 pictures you chose in 300 words.

A man who has been through many trials and tribulations. Many tears have been left
behind, in various pains he had experienced. There were also smiles but many
heartaches were planted and just hidden. Many times has been left in the flow. Not
considering that I belonged. I have become mere rubbish in their sight and desires.
Lived itself in the constant rumbling of the ocean, but all was still deficient. Came to the
point that I was weakened. But there was a light which illuminated my path which gave
me where I should go. He gave me reasons to just keep going in the challenges of the
fierce blows to the life of nature, he sent people who give value and happiness that we
call and considered a true friends (Family). He reminded each of us that there is
someone who loves and someone who values, the family that truly cares and believes
in my ability to never give up because every desire has a way to achieve it. In the light
that God has brought to my path I continue to be most careful and enriched, in every
obstacle in our ways always think of our dedication so that the sorrows of yesterday can
be overcome, just look straight ahead in our dreams and forget the pain we have gone
through, make it just reasons or motivation to victory is met, always remember that in
our life there is a good destiny as long as we focus to our loved ones. For only our true
beloved achieve our veracious greatest longing, the dream we wish our lives to have is
the true happiness they bring. The real smiles are the ones that will bring a genuine
comfort, and the dreams that we want can only be found contained in our hearts that
deliver true happiness.

TASK 4: Assessment

Directions: Using 1 paragraph, discuss the following topics.

1. Soul Making in art- making and extracting meanings from art. In art, in order for people
to make sense of the work, it will require an understanding of the visual elements on
which art is based, especially the principles of design.

2. Appropriation:

a. ObjectAppropriation-
occurs when the existence of a tangible work of art such as sculptures and
paintings are transferred from members of one culture to members of another
culture.

b. Content- the writer who retells stories made by a culture other than his
own. A musician who sings songs of another culture is engaged in
providing the content.

c. Style- refers to the composing of technique from others. Borrowing,


acquiring, or adapting a style.

d.Motif- this form is associated with stylistic appropriation.Sometimes artists are


influenced by the art of a culture other than their own without producing works in
the same style.

It's the one that takes ideas and doesn’t copy the content, just takes a little bit of
art style ideas.
e. Subject- This is taking the subject into a culture. Example of this is to
getting a subject in a community to present to their film production.
