Natasha designs lessons that meet the diverse needs of her students. She is able to differentiate instruction and adjust her teaching pace based on student
understanding. Natasha communicates with parents on a regular basis and makes herself available if they have questions or concerns. She also regularly
collaborates with her cooperating teacher as well as her grade level team.

Natasha observes and monitors her students' learning patterns to determine what type of instructional strategies are most effective. She provides opportunities for
students to learn in multiple ways through the use of manipulatives. The majority of Natasha's students are English Language Learners so she makes sure to plan
time each day for students to listen, speak, read and write in English. She allows her students to respond in Spanish when needed. Natasha often uses short
instructional videos to engage her second graders.

As stated previously, Natasha will often use educational videos to help facilitate the connection to previous learning or personal experiences to new content. She
uses a document camera to provide strong visuals which enhances learning. During a recent math lesson, Natasha started with some direct instruction followed by
independent time for students to practice. She patiently assists her English Language Learners in practicing academic vocabulary such as addition, sum, equation,
addend and array.

During math instruction, Natasha will give students story problems that contain their names and things they are interested in. She provides opportunities for
students to share their opinions based on their different cultural perspectives.

Natasha assesses students in a variety of ways to ensure students fully understand the content. These are all aligned directly with learning objectives. Natasha uses
assessment data to track student progress, determine if any reteaching needs to be done and to drive future instruction. She is able to provide appropriate
accommodations for students when necessary. One example: Natasha will read standardized math tests to her Spanish speaking students.

During independent work, Natasha continuously circulates around the room observing students practicing skills and offering assistance when needed. She will start
lessons with students reciting an "I can . . . " statement so they have a clear focus in mind. Natasha poses questions throughout her lessons to keep students curious
and to promote deeper thinking. She does a nice job of giving ample wait time, especially for her English Language Learners.

Natasha uses both formal and informal assessment results to evaluate her instruction and to help plan for future lessons. She asks her cooperating teacher as well
as her grade level team questions for support, feedback and guidance. Natasha will also research outside resources to integrate into her teaching.

Natasha has built a strong community with the parents of her students. She communicates and collaborates with them regularly, especially with those dealing with
special needs. Natasha ensures that her students all have the resources and opportunities to support their learning and she takes the time to find appropriate
learning styles fo each individual learner.
