At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:

 Describe and interpret the multiplication and division of integers

using materials such as Algebra tiles counters, chips and
cards(M6NS-llh-155);
 Perform the multiplication and division integers (M6NS-llh-156); and
 Solve routine and non-routine problems involving multiplication and
division of integers using appropriate strategies and tools (M6NS-llj-

IV. PROCEDURE

A. Preparatory Activities
1. Prayer
Class, before we proceed to
our lesson, let us first seek
the guidance of our Almighty
God. Everybody please
stand. May I ask Rikki Mae
to lead the prayer?

(the pupil will pray)

2. Greetings
Good morning class!
Good morning Maam!

3. Energizer
Class lets have energizer
first. Just follow the step in
the video. I hope everybody
will participate.
(The pupils will participate)
4. Checking of Attendance
Who is absent for today
Miss secretary?
No one is absent for today
maam.

Very good!

5. Checking of Assignments
Do we have an assignment
for today class?
None maam

6. Drill
I have here a flash card
all you have to do is to repeat after
me.

Do you understand class?

Yes, maam

3x4= 12
1212
-3 x 4= -12

-3 x 0 = 0

12 4=3
12 -4=-3

0 4=0

7. Unlocking Difficulties
As we go on with our
discussion, you will
encounter the unfamiliar
words. All you have to do is
arrange the jumbled letters
to form a new word. Do you
understand class?

Yes maam!
( the pupils will arrange the
jumbled letters)
DIVIDING
MULTIPYING
INTEGERS
POSITIVE
NEGATIVE

B. Developmental Activities
1. Engage
Class, did you remember the 2
operations that we discussed a while
ago?
Yes, maam
Give one John Rick?
Multiplication
What else? Geralyn?
Division
Okay class excellent give 5 class to
Mr. John Rick and Ms. Geralyn

(students give 5 claps)

2. Explore
This time you will be doing an activity.
I will group you into four groups. You
will be having a problem solving. But
first come here in the front your
representative leaders. Choose a
paper then show it to your group
mates what you have chosen.

Is that clear?
Yes, maam
But before anything else read the
standard in doing group activity.
Standards in doing Activity:
Cooperate with your group
mates.
Minimize your voice.
Maintain cleanliness and
orderliness in your area.
Finish the task on time.
Materials needed:
 Worksheet
 Algebra Tiles
 Algebra Chips
Group 1 – Multiplication
using Algebra tiles
Group 2 – Multiplication
using Algebra Chips
Group 3 – Division using
Algebra Tiles
Group 4 – Division using
Algebra Chips
3. Explain
Class, going back to our activity a
while ago let us find out.

What is an integer?

An integer is a positive or
negative whole number,
including 0.
…-3, -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, 3 …

In visualizing multiplication and

division of integers, we may use
algebra tiles, chips, counters or cards.

Chips
1 - Positive integer

-1 - Negative integer
- Positive integer

- Negative integer

Tiles

- Positive integer

Multiplication of integers

Multiplication is a repeated addition.

The numbers that we multiply are
called factors while the answer in
multiplication is called the product.
When you multiply two numbers with
the same sign, the result is always
positive. Just multiply the absolute
values and make the answer positive.

These are some of examples:

Division of Integers

Recall that division is the inverse of

multiplication. In a division sentence,
the first number is the dividend which
tells us the total number of elements.
The second number is the divisor
which may be referred to as number of
groups or number of members in a
group.

First, find the absolute values of the

two integers. Next divide the numbers
or find their quotient. Finally,
determine the final sign of the answer
or quotient. Because we are dividing
two integers with the same sign, the
quotient will have a positive sign.
4. Elaborate
a. Guided practice
This time, please get a piece of
paper and answer the activity
Direction:
Use tiles or chips to answer
the following.

Answer:

-16
-96
-5
0
b. Independent practice
This time, you will be having an
activity. I will give 2 minutes to
answer. Do you understand?
Perform as Instructed.
1. Multiply 19 by -5.
2. How many groups of
13 are there in -208?
3. Divide 98 by -7. Then
multiply the result by
-3.
4. Multiply 15 by -9.
5. Divide 60 by 12
Answer:
1. -95
2. -16
3. 42
4. -135
5. 12

c. Application
This time I will group you into 2
groups. All you have to do is read
and understand the direction

Direction:
Solve and show your
solution.
1. Macky made 5
withdrawals of 500
each from his
savings account.
What was the overall
change in his
account?
2.

changed by 78 points
because he missed
some targets. He got

missed target. How
many targets did he
miss?
3. In a 25- item test,
100 is the maximum
points. If all the items
are awarded with the
same number of
points and King
scored 76 points,
how many did he
answer correctly?
4. The price of one
share of stock fell
