INTRODUCTION

COPAR stands for Community Organizing Participatory Action Research. It is a


continuous process of education to the community that allows them to understand their current
situation and help them to develop their own action that will sustain them. It is by working with
the community in their long term crisis, mobilizing them in order to resolve and develop their
ability to respond to the crisis, and take action to their needs in which resulting to solving of their
own existing problem. Using the community’s existing resources , program and policy
implementation and training their leaders.

This is a social development that aims to develop the community in to dynamic,


participative and responsive individuals from being unresponsive, voiceless and unconventional.
It is a communal, participatory, transformational, liberative, persistent and systematic process in
which mobilization and enhancing people’s capabilities and resources for them to come up with
their own solution regarding to their issues and concerns resulting in addressing their own
repressive and exploited situations. The community recognize their own needs and objectives,
building their confidence in taking action that expands their cooperation and collaboration
attitudes and behaviour towards one another during the process.

COPAR is an instrument that empowers people and develop the community that enables
the community workers to engage and build their initiative towards the residence. It trains
leaders, employees or clients to take over the administrative responsibilities in the community to
sustain the program and policy that was implemented. COPAR maximize the community’s
engagement and participation , resources and mobilization for the community service. COPAR
targets the depressed, exploited, poor, low safety , high in morbidity and mortality and more
likely do not have any barangay health services. COPAR should result in community’s self
sufficient and self sustain that resolve their own issues or concerned.
