Neeraj Chopra is only 23 and yet, he has already become


one of the greatest Indian Olympians of all time. Neeraj
Chopra wins gold at Tokyo Olympics:

Neeraj Chopra created history as he won the men's
javelin on 7 August with a best throw of 87.58 metres to
claim a historic first
Olympic athletics gold medal for India.
Silver Medal Winner
MIRABAI CHANU
Mirabai Chanu on July 24 opened India's medal tally in the
ongoing Tokyo Olympics after she bagged a silver medal in
weightlifting (women's 49kg category). During her four
successful attempts in the competition, the weightlifter
lifted a
total of 202 kg, which included 87 kg in a snatch and 115 in
clean and jerk. After she won the medal, wishes from
across
the country poured in and people hailed the weightlifter
for her
feat.

Ravi Kumar on Thursday clinched an Olympic silver after
losing his
57kg final to Russian two-time defending world champion
Zavur Uguev
This is India's second silver and fifth medal overall at the
Tokyo
Olympics. Ravi is the fourth Indian male wrestler, and fifth
overall, to win
a medal at the Olympics. His medal also marks the fourth
consecutive
medal for India at the Olympics in wrestling.
Ravi Kumar Dahiya joins a list of five Indian wrestlers who
have made the
country proud at the biggest stage in the world of sport.

PV Sindhu's hopes of securing India's first-ever Olympic gold
in
gold in
badminton came crashingg down as she slumped to a
straight-game
defeat against world no.1 Tai Tzu Ying of Chinese Taipei in
the women's
singles semifinals in Tokyo on Saturday. The 26-year-old
silver
medallist from the Rio Games, however, remained in the hunt
for a
bronze medal and competed against China's He Bing Jiao in
the third
place play-off at Musashino Forest Plaza on Sunday and won
a Silver medal.
Welterweight Boxer Winner
Lovlina Borgohain
In her debut Olympic Games Assamese boxer Lovlina
Borgohain assured India its second medal at Tokyo
2020
when she beat Chinese Taipei's Nien- Chin Chen in a
4:1 split decision in women's welterweight quarter-
finals
to reach the semi-finals. Borgohain who shot to fame
in
2017 after she won a bronze medal at the Asian Boxing
Championships in the Women's Welterweight category
beat Germany's Nadine Apetz 3:2 in the Round of 16

Bajrang Punia

India's freestyle wrestler,Bajrang Punia won


against
Enaaz Akmataliev in the 65kg freestyle wrestling
event. India has now progressed to the quarter-
finals at
Makuhari Messe Hall A. Bajrang Punia defeats
Iran's
Mortaza Ghiasi Cheka by fall, enters semi-
finals.
Then Bajrang Punia Won Bronze.
BRONZE MEDAL FOR INDIAN HOCKEY MEN's
TEAM:
The Indian side defeated Germany 5-4 on August 5 at Oi Hockey
Stadium
to win the bronze medal India made a 5-4 victory Over Germany
that gave
India their 12th hockey medal in the Olympics but one that came
after over
four decades
The last time India stood on the podium was at the 1980
MosCOW Games
where they won gold. The country has eight gold medals in all
the Games.
Simranjeet Singh, Hardik Singh, Harmanpreet Singh, and
Rupinder Pal
Singh were the other goal-getters for India.
