Project 1: Operate Database Application (UC 01)

Task1: Create a database
On this task the candidate creates a new blank database with the name ‘College’ and save it
on the desktop.
Task 2: Create the following two tables under the database created in Task 1
Under this task the candidate is expected to create two tables named ‘Student’ and
‘Department’ based on the following information. Use ‘StudID’ as primary key for Student
table and ‘DeptID’ for Department table.

Task 3: Create relationship between two tables
Under this task the candidate is required to create relationship between the two tables of
the database.
Task 4: Create data entry form
Under this task the candidate is expected to create a data entry form which contains
attributes of both tables.
Task 5: Add buttons on the data entry form
Under this task the candidate is expected to add buttons named Save Record, Next Record,
and Previous Record on the data entry form
Task 6: Enter the following sample data in the tables using the data entry form
created in Task 5.
Under this task the candidate is expected to enter the data given below using the data entry
form.

Note: The first three students are in IT department and the rest two are in Economics

Task 7: Create query
A. Under this task the candidate is expected to create a Query that should accept
department name as a parameter and then displays ‘DeptName’, ‘StudID’, ‘StudName’, and
‘DateOfBirth’. Save it by the name ‘StudsInDept’ and save it as “Query A”.
B. that display name and date of birth of students born before 1990 and save it as “Query
B”.
C. that display name and date of birth of students born After 1990 and save it as “Query C”.
D. that display name and date of birth of students born between 1985 and 1990 and save
it as “Query D”.
E. That display name of students start with letter “M” and save it as “Query E”.
F. That updates “Hayilu” to “Hailu” and save it as “Query F”.
G. That deletes Male students and save it as “Query G”.
Task 8: Create a report
Under this task the candidate is expected to create a Report that Contains ‘DeptName’,
‘StudID’, ‘StudName’, and ’Sex’ attributes. Save it by the name ‘Dept’.
Project 2. Administrating network and using the Internet (UC 03, 04 &
05)
On this project, the candidate is expected to install, configure, maintain and troubleshoot
local area network and peripherals. In addition, he/she is expected to demonstrate how to
browse and get information from the Internet.
Task 1: Prepare network cable
Under this task, the candidate is required to prepare two appropriate network cables to
connect two computers .
Task 2: Configure and connect the computers and check for connectivity the Internet
The candidate is expected to configure the Internet connection based on the following
information.
 IP Address
 Subnet mask
 Default Gate way
 Preferred Alternate DNS server
Task 3: Creating a folder and making it accessible on the network
Under this task, the candidate is expected to create a folder called ‘Student’ on one of the
computers and share the folder to the other computer.
Task 4: Install and share a printer on the network
The candidate is expected to install and share a printer on the first computer and he/she is
expected to add that printer to the second computer and print a test page.
Task 5: Make Google website the home page of your browser
Under this task the candidate should set Google as the home page to her/his browser.
Task 6: Find information from the Internet about computer networking, copy the
information on Notepad and save it in a shared folder
Under this task the candidate is expected to search at least a paragraph of information
about computer networking from the Internet and put it on a Notepad file and then save
the Notepad by the name ‘Network’ in the ‘Student’ folder which was created previously on
Task 2.
Task 7: Print shared document
The candidate is expected to print the shared document called ‘Network’ which was
created on Task 6.
Task 8: Block a website
Here the candidate is expected to block the website http://www.facebook.com
Project 3 Disassembling and assembling a computer (UC 02, 06)
On this project the candidate is expected to disassemble and reassemble a computer.
Task 1: Disassemble the CD-Drive, hard disk drive, data cable and RAM of the
candidate’s computer
For this task the candidate will be provided a fully functional computer and she/he is
expected to disassemble the devices listed above following the standard computer
maintenance procedures.
Task 2: Reassemble the CD-Drive, hard disk drive, data cables and RAM
Under this task the candidate is going to reassemble the dismounted CD-Drive, Hard disk
drive, Data cables and RAM and make the computer operational again.
Task 3: Identify Missing Component
Under this task you are going to identifythe missing componenet or part of computer and
fill the information on the table format bellow on micrsoft word and save as “Missed
component” on desktop
