Method - The students will make 3 cards measuring 15 inches x 8 inches. They will draw any
three constellations of their choice. With the help of punching machine, they will make
some holes on the drawing. They will insert thread or wool in the holes and will complete
the constellation drawing.

ACTIVITY – EFFECT OF ACID RAIN ON PLANT GROWTH
TIME REQUIRED TO COMPLETE - 2 weeks
AIM OF THE PROJECT – To understand the effect of acid rain on plant growth over short
term and extrapolate the results to better understand the effects of acid rain at larger scale.
MATERIAL REQUIRED –
1. 2 plant pots or empty dahi cups
2. Enough potting soil
3. Some seeds
4. 2 spray bottles
5. Lemon juice
6. Direct sunlight
7. Permanent marker

DIFFICULTY OF PROJECT - Medium


METHOD –
1. Fill each pot with enough soil
2. Label one pot as acid rain and the other pot as normal
3. Water both plants and place them under direct sunlight.
4. As the seed’s sprouts, measure the plants and record your data as Day1
5. In one spray bottle take water and in the other spray bottle add some lemon juice
along with water.
6. From this point forward, water each pot as usual and then spray one pot with water
and the other pot with acid water. Follow this by measuring the plants every day
7. Do this for 14 days. Record your observations
8. Examine the growth in each treatment.

ACTIVITY – HOW DOES SALINITY AFFECT THE DENSITY OF WATER?
TIME REQUIRED TO COMPLETE – 2 hours
AIM OF THE PROJECT - The goal of the water density experiment is for students to better
understand how increased salinity increase water density.
MATERIAL REQUIRED –
1. 3 paper cups
2. Salt
3. Big transparent jar or bottle
4. Food colour of three different colours preferably red, yellow and blue
DIFFICULTY OF PROJECT - Medium
METHOD –
1. Pour one cup of room temperature water into 3 paper cups (each paper cup should
contain one cup of water).
2. Create various salinity solutions and colour code them with food colouring:
a. Mix 4 tablespoons of salt into first cup, then add 2 drops of red food colouring.
b. Mix 2 tablespoons of salt into second cup, then add 2 drops yellow food colouring.
c. Mix 2 drops of blue food colouring into third cup. Do not add salt to the water.
3. First pour the saltiest water (red) into the glass jar, next pour the slightly salty water
(yellow) slowly into glass jar, and finally pour the pure water (blue) slowly into the glass jar.
4. Students should record observations of which levels of salinity sink/float compared to
the others.
