Competency
differentiate plant and animal cells according to presence or absence of certain
organelles.
I. OBJECTIVES

Objectives:

The learners should be able to;

1. identify parts of the cell;

2. describe plant and animal cells;
3. differentiate plant cell from animal cell;
4. construct a Venn-Diagram to show parts that are common to both and parts that are

Pre-Activity Checking of attendance by group

A. ELICIT show the class the picture of an organ system, organ, tissues, and cell.
In the R

(3) Then ask “ How do you classify this? Is it an organ ,Organ system,tissue or cell?
What is the smallest level of organization in an organism
Show an enlarged illustrations of plant and animal cells.

Ask thestudents
1. Are you familiar with the illustrations?
2. Do you know the different parts of it?
3. How are they different?
4. If one of the part of the cells are damage (Ex.Plasma Membrane),what do you think
will happen to the cell?
5. Do you want to learn more about the illustrations.

Identify the parts of the animal cell and plant cell. Match the paper strips assigned to each
B. ENGAGE group to the enlarged picture of plant cell and animal cell
(2)
Use the following strips
nucleus cytoplasm Cell membrane Rough ER
m

Golgi body mitochondrion Smooth ER

Cell wall lysosome vacoule vesicles

“Let us find out if your answer are correct as we go with our activity

Pre-lab:
Giving of instructions and rubrics to be used in rating student’s activity;
other clarifications.
Distribution of activity kits.

Laboratory Proper:
Students perform the activity Comparing Plants Cell and Animal cell.
Gather and record observation

Q5. Using the information you have gathered from your activity, construct a Venn
diagram of plant and animal cells on a sheet of paper. Label the overlapping and non-
overlapping areas.
A Venn Diagram shows relationships between and among sets or groups of objects
that have something in common. It uses two circles that overlap with one another. The
common things are found in the overlapping area, while the differences are in the non-
overlapping areas..
