The graphical representation is a feature of CDR which converts health data into
pictorial or graphical format such as charts, graphs, full-motion videos etc.
This feature
is important because it aids in simplifying wide array of information and allows
for better
decision making in the healthcare facility. With the use of graphical
representations,
correlation, patterns and trends can easily be revealed and recognized compared
to text
based clinical data. This feature allows users to change the level of
information that can
be visualized with the use of different filters which include age and gender. An
example
of this is when a physician review multiple chest x-rays that were obtained over
the
course of a specific period of time (days, months or years) in order to
determine if a
nodule has grown. This procedure cannot be done with textual clinical data,
therefore,
visualization plays a big role in patient diagnosis and the efficiency of
decision-making.
