2002 ALTIMA; RATTLE IN REAR DOOR WHEN CLOSING


APPLIED VEHICLE: 2002 Altima (L31)

SERVICE INFORMATION

If a 2002 Altima has a rattle from the rear door when closing, check to see if the sound is
coming from the window regulator area. If it is, follow the Service Procedure in this bulletin.

SERVICE PROCEDURE
1. Remove the incident window side door panel. Then remove the top portion of the
plastic “vapor barrier.” This is to gain access to the top attachment bolts for the window
regulator.

2. Only loosen (do not remove), both top attachment bolts for the window regulator.

3a. Remove the top rear attachment bolt and install one (1) washer, 2mm thick, in between
the window regulator and the inner door panel (see Figure 1).
3b. Then re-install the bolt you removed (see Figure 2).

4. Re-tighten both top attachment bolts for the window regulator.

5. Close the door and confirm the rattle noise has been eliminated.

6. Reassemble the door/door panel.

7. Confirm the rattle is gone.
