Assembly Special note:


Very important! If not pay attention, it will seriously affect the reliability!
1. Length of the screw is inappropriate maybe led to poor conductivity. This problem
may not be detected in the production process. The standard screws, diameter
should be 4mm, and 5mm long thread. The length is rigorously calculated and can
not add shims. The screws are not only used for fix, they are connected to a major
magnetostrictive wire excitation current conductive link.
The screw, which used for tighten circuit board, must be assemble first, and then
assemble the screw used for fix magnetostrictive wire.
2. Rubber rod affect dead zone and SNR, and affect the minimum measuring
distance between the first float and the second float. You can use only 50% length
for single float, it is more easy for assemble.
【The automatic detection function through PC software is help for troubleshooting!】
3.Please make sure there is no bends on wire, otherwise the signal sharply reduced
after the inflection point.
4.Tensioning force should not too large, otherwise it will cause signal attenuation.
The bottom line can also be in a free state.
5. Not all of types magnetostrictive wire can work well with the circuit, we recommend
using the recommended wire.

Assemble Step 1:Prepare accessories

Figure 1:316 probe, PTFE tube, the signal processing board, magnetostrictive wire,
high temperature wire, screw, rubber, heat shrinkable tube.

Note:AF-250 high temperature wire ( 0.12mm²).

Assemble Step 2:Process materials according length

Figure 2:PTFE pipe’s length should be the same with the depth of 316 probe rod.
Magnetostrictive wire and high temperature wire length should be more than 316 probe
20CM.
Note: Magnetostrictive wire should be neat and tidy, no bending, even bending small
will also affect the transmission of signal.

Assemble Step 3:Bottom

Figure 3a:High temperature wire stripping 2CM, flexible bend magnetostrictive wire;
Figure 3b:The high temperature wire and magnetostrictive wire twisted and welded together;
Figure 3c:The bottom end use heat shrinkable tube processing. Bottom diameter should be
small enough, to ensure that can move freely in PTFE tube.

Assemble Step 4:Upper

•Figure 4a:The high temperature wire and magnetostrictive wire insert into the signal processing
board plastic frame;
•Figure 4b:Mount rubber, from the center through, can use pliers. Magnetostrictive wire should cut
off the upper part..

Assemble Step 5:Insert into PTEE tube

•Figure 5a:Insertion of PTFE tube, heat shrinkable tube at the bottom of the PTEE tube to ensure the
distance of about 1CM(Look carefully at the central black shadow). The white rubber at bottom to
play a sealing role.
•Figure 5b:After the end position is determined, the upper end of the rubber processing to the proper
position, and insert the pillars.

Assemble Step 6:Tighten the screws, welding return line

•Figure 6a:First tighten bottom screws, then weld the return high temperature wire to VIA hole B.
•Figure 6b:Tighten the top screw (This step must be carried out after tighten bottom screws);

Assemble Step 7 :Fixed plastic frame

•Figure 7:The overall inserted into the 316 rod, and tighten the 2 screws.

The relationship about magnetic polarity and signal waveforms:


An annular float magnet, thickness <5mm, strength> 100mT.
The polarity can be N inside, N upper side or S upper side.
【Magnet polarity is very important, incorrect polarity setting will lead to capture
error value and move up and down. Remember to use automatic polarity
detection verification!】

1. Connect the transmitter and power on.


2. Make sure you have Modbus-Config Tool or other modbus
sortware.
3. Make sure you have a RS232/RS485 converter.

Note: You can use Modbus-Config Tool software, or use the third party
software, to access the corresponding register accordance with the
MODBUS protocol.

Step3: Configuration 1 - Parameter Description

Bottom Offset S

Set the ‘Bottom Offset’ and ‘Minimum level value’.


Bottom Offset: Set the distance between the bottom of the measuring rod and
the bottom of the measured object, unit: mm. This value will be added when
calculating the level value.
Minimum level value: The minimum level value of the magnetostrictive level
meter, unit: mm.

Step 3: Configuration 2——Set Address and Damping

Address: The RS485 address, the valid range is 1~63.

Damping: The range is 0~32 seconds.

Level Unit:mm(49)、cm(48)、m (45)。

Step 4: User Trim


 Set the float number to 1.
 Click ‘Calibration’ to enter calibrate interface.
 Select calibration points.
 Input the corrected ‘Trim Value’. That is reference level (length).
 Move the float to calibration location, Click on the ‘Collect’ button, to
read transmitter’s measure value and save it to the ‘Collect value’ list.
Follow the same method to complete the data collection.
Note: "Collect Value" must satisfy monotonicity.
 Click on the ‘Write Trim Data’ button to save data to the transmitter.

Note:The float number must be 1 when calibration!!

Step 5: Temperature Sensors


H780M supports 1~8 DS18B20 for the temperature measurement.
Through the RS485 communication, the average temperature value and
every temperature sensor values can be read.

The temperature sensor setting process:


First select the “Start Search DS18B20";
After a few seconds, implement the "read" operation, a "command state"
should be "DS18B20 search", "temperature sensor" number shows the
number of temperature sensor a find, all of the DS18B20 address will be
displayed in the appropriate place.
If you want to make some sort of temperature sensor, can be individually
by heating to determine each DS18B20 address, DS18B20 address
manually adjust the order.
In the "command" part, select ‘Save DS18B20 Address’ and implement it
to complete temperature sensor related settings;

Step 6: Advanced Settings -- Parameters Description

 Magnet polarity: The polarity can be ‘N inside or N up side’ or ‘S inside or S


up side’.
 Signal Amplitude: This value should set correctly. You can use an oscilloscope
to get the actual signal amplitude. This value must be less than the actual minimum
signal value ½.
 Dead Zone: Usually recommended under the conditions allowed, try to set a
large number of generally recommended greater than 150mm.
 Float Minimum Interval: Set the possible minimum distance between two float.

Note:
Only experienced manufacturers are allowed to change these parameters.
If the parameter is set incorrectly, may lead to level meter not working!

Step 7: Variable Monitoring


Click the “Function" button, you can choose to read level, temperature,
or set the temperature sensor.
Monitor Level:
Click the ‘Read Level’ button, you can get two float levels, state, and the
difference of the two float measurements.
Monitor Temperature:
Click the ‘Read Temperature’ button, you can read all temperature
sensors output value, and the average temperature.

Set Temperature Sensor:


Click the ‘Set Temperature Sensor’ button, you can choose ‘Start Search
DS18B20’ or ‘Save DS18B20 Address’ function.

Appendix 1:Protocol Overview


Communication protocol is the standard MODBUS-RTU model.
The communication baud rate is fixed at 9600bps. Data format are 8 data
bits, 1 stop bit, no parity bit.

Support functions including codes:

Function code: 03, read holding registers, including configuration data;


Function code: 04, read input registers (read dynamic variables).
Function code: 06, write a holding register.
Function code: 16, write holding registers.

Search Online Temperature Sensors:


Write ‘1’ to register 8246 will start search DS18B20.
After 1 second, read register 16415. If register value equal 2,
the search operation finished.
Read register 8245 to get online temperature sensors number.

Save Temperature Address:

After more than 1 second, read register 16415. If register
