Maintenance Organization

Organizing is the process involves putting resources (such as people, tools, and technology)
in the right combinations to carry out an organization's strategy and objectives. Organization
structure refers to the formal arrangement of the many components of an organisation. It is a
system in which inputs and outputs interact. Task allocation, workflow, reporting structures,
and communication routes that connect the efforts of many people and organisations are its
defining characteristics. Any structure must permit the coordination of performance results
while allocating duties through a division of labour. Organization structures should be viewed
as dynamic entities that continuously evolve to respond to changes in technology, processes
and environment, (Daft, 1989 and Schermerhorn, 2007). A maintenance organization and its
position in the plant/whole organization is heavily impacted by the following elements or
factors such as type of business, objectives, size and structure of the organization, culture of
the organization and range of responsibility assigned to maintenance.
